Meet the identical twin of Betclic, both being part of the Betclic Everest (Gibraltar) Ltd. group after the 2011 merger of Betclic with EverestPoker. The combined group has now about half a dozen brands in its name. The flagship sites are clearly Betclic and Expect with both offering casino, live casino, sports, live betting and of course poker.

UPDATE: In May 2021, LeoVegas completed the acquisition of Expekt from the Betclic Group and fully integrated the brand into its own platform. Currently, the casino & sportsbook operates as a Pay N Play Casino for Finnish and Swedish players only under licences from the MGA Malta and Swedish Spelinspektionen.

After reviewing Betclic earlier, it looks like a walk in the park writing about Expekt. But there is a little more history to this brand as it was one of the pioneers in online gaming and sports betting. Founded in 1999 by Swedish entrepreneurs Christian Haupt and Conny Gesar, it was one of the first if not the first-ever online sports betting operator in northern Europe, gaining rapidly in popularity as the internet age went into full swing. They added poker to their site in 2003, elevating the site to one of the big operators in Scandinavia.

In 2009, Mangas Gaming, the French parent company of Betclic, acquired Expekt and a few years later the two entities were merged into BetclicEverest Ltd. From its very early years, the Expekt HQ was based on the island of Malta where it still is today. According to Wikipedia records, the site has currently over 1,8 million registered users, making Expekt one of the major bookmaker and casino sites worldwide.

There is little negative to report after my tour of Expekt Casino and Sportsbook. They are a well-established site with a good reputation and a comprehensive portfolio that covers virtually all types of online gaming and betting. We found the promotions page to be lacking some good deals but maybe that changes once you are a regular player.
