Review
Brace as you are about to take on the three-headed hound of Hades on the slot from Thunderkick. Beat The Beast: Cerberus’ Inferno is the third slot in the special series, taking you on a high-volatility ride through Greek mythology with stacked wilds and a Bonus Game with 243 ways to win, free spins and unlimited retriggers that can lead to wins of up to 6,666 times your bet.
Slot Details
Beat The Beast: Cerberus’ Inferno is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 9 fixed pay lines in the base game, changing to a 243-ways format in the bonus round. During the base game, wins are awarded for two to five matching symbols on a line from left to right only while in the free spins you will need at least three matching symbol on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost to score a win. You can challenge the hound of Hades on desktop or mobile from 0.10 to 100 credits per spin. The game has high volatility (square root of variance is 187.44) with an RTP of 96.15%.
In Greek mythology, a Cerberus is depicted as a fierce creature with three dog heads and a snake tail, usually guarding the gates to the underworld to prevent the dead from escaping. In that context, we get a hell-like background with blazing colour tones and stairs leading up to the entrance. The hound of Hades together with some typical Greek warrior items dominate on the heavily framed reels.
The pay symbols start at the low end with the card royals from 10 through to A, awarding 7.5x to 10x your stake for a single five of a kind. They are complemented with a Greek spear weapon, a warrior helmet, an ancient amphora and a gold figurine of a Cerberus. Hit five across the reels to win 20x to 50x your stake.
The golden Cerberus Emblem is the wild and scatter symbol, transforming into a blazing three-deaded hound icon and substituting for all pay symbols. The game has also a stacked wild. Landing a mix of five stacked and emblem wilds will yield 150x your stake, while scattered emblems will get you 200x times together with a feature trigger.
Beat The Beast: Cerberus’ Inferno Slot Features
Thunderkick is adding with Beat The Beast: Cerberus’ Inferno the third of five games in a series they call “High Danger”, indicating volatile rollercoasters with huge win potential. Beat The Beast: Kraken’s Lair and Beat The Beast: Mighty Sphinx gave us just that although the latter disappointed slightly with just 4,444x your bet as maximum win. Keeping in line with the equal numbers, this creation comes in at a more respectable 6,666 times your stake.
While the base game will have few surprises apart from the stacked wilds, there will be more action waiting in the free spins. To trigger the bonus game you will need to land three, four or five Cerberus Emblem scatters anywhere on the reels in one spin. It will trigger 10 Free Spins plus award a payout of 2x, 20x and 200x your total bet respectively. The free spins are played on a 5×3 game window with 243 ways to win instead of just 9 pay lines, providing extra potential to score a win. The feature can be retriggered indefinitely.Â
Final Verdict
Not really sure how to rate this game. Maybe I just expect too much from game providers. Thunderkick dubbed this series as “High Danger”, raising the expectations to something quite spectacular will be included in each release. Beat The Beast: Cerberus’ Inferno does not quite fit that memo, although the upgrade to 243 ways in the bonus round has potential. Overall, it doesn’t feel like one should be scared of the hound of Hades. For that, he would need to come across as a fierce beast vying for our balance and rewarding the bravest spinners with mega wins but he looks more like a domesticated hound you keep on the couch.
