Avast Ye! Time to set sail for an explosive reel heist on the slot from 4ThePlayer. 123 Boom! is taking you on a volatile sea voyage across five reels, combining their Slot Slider™ mechanic with cascading symbols, sliding wilds, explosive wins and a bonus game with progressive multipliers that can lead to wins of up to 14,827 times your bet. Aaarrgh!
123 Boom! is a cascading video slot in a 5×4 format with 1,024 ways to win, featuring the Slot Slider™ mechanic. Pays are awarded for three to five matching symbols landing on adjacent reels from left to right only (or bottom to top, based on what device you play). You can become a reel pirate for a day one desktop, tablet or mobile from 0.10 to 20 credits per spin. The game has medium to high volatility with an RTP of 96.40% and a hit rate of roughly 1:3.5 spins.
Two pirate ships in the midst of a sea battle flank the translucent reels filled with cannons, male captain, female shipmate and other pirate paraphernalia. Based on which mode you choose, you will have the reels spinning from right to left or from top to bottom. A swashbuckling soundtrack provides a lively atmosphere, intermittently interrupted by cannon fire and explosions.
The pay symbols start at the low end with ship wheel, spyglass, map, pirate flag, swords and pistols, awarding 0.8x to 2x your stake for a single five of a kind. They are followed by doubloons, treasure chests, the female shipmate and the pirate captain. Hit five across the reels to win 2.5x to 20x your bet. A cannonball is the wild, substituting for all regular pay symbols while a cannon itself is acting as the scatter.
123 Boom! Slot Features
Anyone who played at an online casino will have at some point done so on a cascading slot. The most popular to date are Gonzo’s Quest from NetEnt or Bonanza Megaways from Big Time Gaming. As usual, the folks at 4ThePlayer don’t do normal as 123 Boom! proves again as they combine a 1,024 ways format with cascading symbols. The game comes with two modes which will determine how the symbols move on the grid. Select the Slide Spin mode and the reels spin right to left while wins are paid left to right. Should you pick Top Spin, then the symbols will cascade from the top to bottom and pays awarded from the bottom to the top. In both modes, wins are evaluated along the 1,024 ways.
The rest of the mechanic works similar to a standard cascading slot. Hit a winner and the symbols from the combo will explode while the remaining will slide into the empty spaces and new ones appear from the right (desktop) However, should you have two combinations, then only the higher value one is paid and the rest slides along with the other symbols.
The Sliding Cannonball Wild feature triggers every time you have a cannonball wild on any reel except on the first and no win occurs at the start of the spin or after a cascade. The cannonball will slide forward, destroying symbols in its way until it either reaches a position where it can form a win or reaches the first reel.
Three or more cannon scatters in view will trigger the Bonus Game, which has no set amount of free spins. All triggering cannon scatters as well as any landing during the feature will be collected in a display next to the game window. The round starts with a normal spin and any time no win occurs, one of the cannons from the collection will move down to fire a cannonball wild to a random reel, keeping the feature going.
And that’s not all. The bonus game starts with an x2 win multiplier which will increase by x1 after every win explosion, no limits. It all comes to an end once you run out cannons in the collection and no more wins occur. Up to 107 wins are possible within a single round with a potential to deliver a bounty worth up to 14,827 times your bet.
123 Boom! was announced as an unusual and novel take on cascading slots and that’s exactly what we got. Integrating yet another new mechanic into their slot creations is testament to the creativity of the 4ThePlayer team. Kudos to them for trying new things that we have not seen so far in casino lobbies. While slightly confusing at the beginning, the gameplay is actually very smooth and quite entertaining. Not to forget, the high win potential which should be sufficient for any eager reel pirate.
