Vampire Desire

Get ready for a spooky reel session on the slot from Barcrest. Vampire Desire will take you to an eerie castle on a full moon night with a vampiress in wait for your arrival. The bravest spinners will be rewarded with wins of up to 500 times their bet in a single round or overall 250,000 credits.

Slot Details

Vampire Desire is a video slot with five reels, five rows and 50 pay lines in default mode which can increase to 10 rows and 100 pay lines in the features. You can face the bloodthirsty vampiress on desktop or mobile from as little as 0.10 credits right up to the value of 500.00 credits per spin. The game has medium variance and a 2-tiered RTP, unfortunately. For bets below two credits, it is a mere 94% while higher bets will benefit from a 96% RTP.

An eerie background with the scary effects of a cold-blooded night awaits when you load the slot. A vampiress ready to bite at any moment stands next to the game window and also appears as an expanding wild symbol. The reels are partially covered by the castle’s portcullis and will lift when features are triggered on a spin. A spooky light arrangement and a typical Barcrest generic soundtrack round of the slot design.

All pay symbols can appear stacked on any spin. They start at the low end with the card suits – hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds – awarding 1x your bet for a single five of a kind. They are followed by a range of vampire associated items – bats, blood-filled chalice, raves, skulls, castle and red roses. Hit five on a line to win 1.5x to 5x your stake.

The wild symbol is a 3-symbol tall purple icon with scattered bats that will expand into the vampiress when it lands in full view. A diamond-ornamented red heart acts as the scatter while a blue heart scatter will come into play in the Lock It Link feature only.

Vampire Desire Slot Features

Trust the vampiress will not sit idle throughout a gaming session as she will jump into action in three features that can trigger on any spin. The first decision you will need to make is whether you want to activate the Vamp It Up bonus. That is if you play at minimum 2 credits per spin as that is the threshold the feature becomes available. You can switch in on or off on any spin at the required bet size. Funnily enough, it will halve your line payouts but score any win of minimum 2.5x your bet and the Vamp-It-Up wheel will appear. It has win multipliers of x1 to x5 as well as Lock It Link bonus triggers on the 3, 6, 9 or 12 o’clock positions.

Landing any 3-symbol high wild symbols in full view of the reels will trigger the Mighty Reels Feature. You will see the portcullis to the castle opens and the vampiress will rise to expand the entire reel height of 10 rows. It also will double the paylines to 100 for the current spin. Win evaluations are done after the expansion.

Hitting three or more red heart scatters on a horizontal row on the bottom grid will trigger the Lock It Link feature. All hearts landing during the feature will display a coin value. The triggering hearts are locked in place and three respins are awarded. All other reel positions spin now independently with the aim to land more hearts. Any red heart appearing will turn into a sticky hearts and reset the counter to three while a blue heart will become sticky as well and increase the respin counter to four.

Three or more horizontally or vertically adjacent hearts will turn into Golden Hearts with increased coin win amounts. The round continues until you run out of respins or fill the grid with sticky hearts. All coin values on the hearts are added and paid at the end of the round. Should you fill the grid with respins remaining then the value on the hearts is increased.

Final Verdict

Vampire Desire has the looks but disappoints in nearly every other aspect. The low line pays, the different RTP settings and the Vamp It Up bonus being available from 2 credits upwards only are reason enough to, as beautiful as she is, avoid this feisty vampiress. The maximum win in a single spin to be 500x your bet for 100 pay lines is simply mediocre. We never managed to fill the screen with Golden Hearts in the bonus game, hence, we don’t know what it would pay and Barcest didn’t mention it in the game sheet either, so it is plain guesswork. Not something we like to have on a slot.
