“Come on little devil, be my little angel” sang The Cult in 1987. Lil’ Devil is to this day an epic piece of rock music and now destined to be the next slot creation from Big Time Gaming that will hit the casino lobbies in autumn 2019. Knowing the penchant of the company founder for rock music, which has brought us already the immensely popular Danger! High Voltage and The Final Countdown slots, we were awaiting eagerly what song he will take this time as inspiration.
Packed with two types of Free Spins and the new Heartstopper™ collection feature that will award two enhanced versions of the same bonus rounds, Lil’ Devil could bring you a sweet surprise with wins exceeding 40,000 times your bet.
Lil’ Devil is a video slot with six reels, four rows and 4,096 ways to win. Pays are awarded for two to six matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. You can headbang to the tunes from The Cult on desktop or mobile from 0.10 to 20 credits per spin. The game has maximum volatility (10/10) with an RTP range from 96.31% to 96.43%, depending on which free spin feature you will be choosing.
The visuals have a doomsday feel with fire-blazing colours and funnily enough a game window surrounded by poppies (you know, the flowers known to be the main source for opium). In a tribute to the most successful BTG slot Bonanza, they included the famous miner’s shack on the left of the reel set, plus it acts as the scatter. Trigger the free spins to see it being set ablaze in a sea of flames. Who in the graphics department was there a Lil’ Devil? The two centre reels where the Angel Wilds wilds can land are marked by a winged stone frame. Naturally, you will get you to hear, and if you want headbang, some of the songs from the Cult.
The pay symbol set remains unchanged at the low end with the card royals from 9 through to A awarding 0.4x to 1x your bet for a single six of a kind. They are complemented by smiling alligators, lizards in bottles, scorpions and purple hearts at the high level. Hit six across the reels to win 1.5x to 10x your stake.
The game has two types of wild symbols – Devil Wild and Angel Wild (more to them shortly). The fabled Bonanza miner’s shack serves as the scatter
Lil’ Devil Slot Features
It amazes me on each occasion when I get my first glimpse of an upcoming Big Time Gaming slot as they surprise us time and again with completely new or altered versions of bonus features that make every game unique and stand out from the crowd by a mile, not just by a notch. On Lil’ Devil, you will get to experience the introduction of their newly trademarked Heartstopper™ mechanic that doubles the types of free spin modes from two to four.
The Devil Wild appears on all reels except the first and performs the usual substitution duties. The Angel Wild appears stacked on reels three and four only and will award a random win multiplier x4, x6, x8, x10 or x12, giving the potential to hit a maximum x144 overall multiplier.
The standard free spin modes are offered when you hit at least three scatters anywhere on the reels in one spin. The game will also award 6x, 20x, 50x and 100x your total bet for three, four, five and six scatters respectively. Similarly to The Final Countdown, the game will lead to a second screen, presenting you with two options for your bonus round. You can pick any of the two on each trigger.
- Option 1 | Be My Angel – 7 Free Spins: The round is played in a similar fashion as on Danger! High Voltage but with a new twist. A regular pay symbol is randomly chosen to turn into a sticky wild when it lands on reels two, three, four or five. Filling a reel with sticky wilds will trigger +3 extra free spins, bringing the maximum for a round to 19 free spins. And here’s the twist – a full stack of sticky wilds on reels three and four will not only award the extra free spins but the reel will also turn into an Angel Wild. Starting with an x4 multiplier it will increase by x2 with each free spin until it hits the maximum of x12. With both middle reels wild, you could potentially benefit again from an x144 win multiplier.
- Option 2 | Dynamite Lover – 12 Free Spins: The round is played with the known reactive wins mechanic from Megaways slots. All symbols from a winning combination will explode to make room for new ones to drop into place, possibly leading to more wins. Dynamite Wilds can appear on reels three and four, carrying a multiplier that starts at x1 and increases by x1 every time they are part of a winning combo, up to a maximum of x12 for each, which can lead to a maximum win multiplier of x144. Landing three scatters on a spin will award +6 free spins, plus any further scatter on the same spin will add the same amount, no limits.
The second part of the features is even more exhilarating as they will come with enhancers to provide extra win potential. Every time you hit only two scatters on a spin in the base game, a heart lights up on the side of the game window. Accumulate 40 hearts and you will be rewarded with Heartstopper™ Enhanced Free Spins. The game will lead you to the same screen with the two free spin modes and you can choose again any of the two on each occasion. While they play out the same as the standard version, you will be benefiting from one enhancement for each round.
- Option 1 | Enhanced Be My Angel – 7 Free Spins: In addition to the randomly selected symbol, the purple heart will also turn into a sticky wild when it lands on reels two to five, making it easier to fill the reels with sticky wilds.
- Option 2 | Enhanced Dynamite Lover – 12 Free Spins: The Dynamite Wilds have a starting multiplier of x5
While staying somewhat close to the other two rock-themed slots with the 6×4 layout, Lil’ Devil captivates players with yet more twists that will heighten not only the suspense but undoubtedly also the win potential. Big Time Gaming is proving again that it fully deserves the title of shooting star in the casino community.
Especially the Heartstopper feature is worth mentioning as it puts an end to the swearing and eye-rolling on teaser spins since they will now lead to an enhanced bonus round. Worth mentioning and in my opinion welcomed is also the lack of a bonus buy feature.
