Slot Details

Alien Antix is s a cascading grid slot with an 8×8 format and cluster pays. Wins are awarded for clusters of five or more matching symbols, connected horizontally and/or vertically anywhere on the grid. You can face the hilarious monsters on desktop or mobile from 0.20 to 10 credits per spin. Some operators might offer higher maximum bet sizes. The game has high volatility with a default RTP of 96.43%. Based on the operator’s choice, it can be offered as part of the Vegas Millions jackpot network, which results in a lower overall RTP of 95.49%, including 0.49% for the jackpot contribution.

Load the game to see you escaping into a purple-blue world in outer space where the one and two-eyed cosmic critters are up to their antics. The entire grid is dominated by them, their mood ranging from happy to bored. Overall, immensely colourful visuals that might cause some confusion on the reels, well, the slot isn’t called Alien Antix for nothing. A drawn-out electronic soundtrack seems to drag on indefinitely but fits the action on the reels perfectly.

The slot has six regular pay symbols, all in form of differently coloured round critters – brown, blue, green, purple, yellow and red. Fun fact is that the three lower critters have the usual two eyes while their three more valuable siblings are all one-eyed. Wins for clusters of 25 or more symbols range from 10x to 100x the bet. A vortex with an atomic whirl is the wild symbol which will have an increasing win multiplier attached when it is part of consecutive winning clusters. They act at the same time as scatters with three needed on the grid in one spin sequence to trigger the bonus feature.

Alien Antix Slot Features

For years, Blueprint Gaming didn’t bother with grid slots and now they released with Dragon Fall and Alien Antix two within a matter of weeks. They do share a lot of commonalities but differ significantly in the bonus round. Question is whether 2020 will see a similar influx of grid slots from Blueprint to repeat the huge wave of Megaways games they released in 2019 after signing a licence with Big Time Gaming. Time will tell and we will keep an eye on it.

Instead of spinning reels, the slot will cascade 64 symbols onto the grid at the beginning of every spin sequence. A cluster of 5 to 25 matching symbols landing vertically or horizontally adjacent or in combination with wild symbols will award wins according to the paytable. Any winning cluster will collapse, making room for new symbols to fall into place. The spin sequence will continue until no new winning clusters land after a fresh cascade, potentially leading to multiple winners within one round.

If you played Dragon Fall or maybe Jammin’ Jars from Push Gaming, then you will know that the wilds symbols are at the centre of the gameplay. If one is part of a winning cluster on a cascade, it will not collapse with the regular pay symbols but move to an adjacent vacant position prior to the next symbol cascade within the same sequence. All wilds in view are held in place when a collapse occurs and override any new dropping pay symbols.

Key to scoring big is still the unlimited progressive multiplier that gets attached to the wild symbols they are part of consecutive winning clusters withing one spin sequence. It starts at x1 and increases by x1 every time a wild is part of a combo. Multipliers from different wilds are multiplied by each other, however, they will not increase if the wilds are not part of a winning cluster and will stay in position until the end of the spin sequence. They will disappear before the next round starts.

Random Colossal Symbols can appear at any time in a spin sequence. Once they settle, all will reveal a matching symbol to provide extra win potential. However, they cannot turn into wild symbols.

The Colossal Capers feature is triggered if you manage to have three wilds anywhere on the grid by the end of a spin sequence. You will be rewarded with 8 free spins, which cannot be retriggered. The difference to Dragon Fall will now unveil itself as the wilds are not sticky between free spins. Instead, they will behave just like in the base game where the multiplier increases up to the end of a spin sequence and will then disappear. Not to worry though, as you will have guaranteed Colossal Symbols landing on every free spin to virtually guarantee at least on winning cluster for each spin.

Lastly, the game is part of the Vegas Millions network with five progressive jackpots that can be won via the Respins feature. A percentage from each bet across the entire Blueprint network contributes to the jackpots. You will need to land five or more Vegas Millions overlay icons in one spin to enter the bonus game. The triggering symbols are locked in place and initially, three respins awarded. The reels contain only blanks and overlay icons. The aim is to collect sufficient jackpot icons to enter the Vegas Jackpot Bonus Game where you can win one of five progressive jackpots – Super, Mega, Major, Royal and Vegas Jackpot. The chances to trigger the jackpot bonus game are relative to your bet size.

Final Verdict

Well, this was slightly unexpected although not totally new from Blueprint. They churned out dozens of TED and The Goonies siblings in the past and then in 2019 a whole bunch of Megaways games, so it is only logical for them to release not just one grid slot and be done with. Expect to see more in 2020 and beyond.

As for Alien Antix Vegas Millions, it is less volatile than Dragon Fall simply because the wild multipliers do not increase ad infinitum in the free spins. Plus, the Colossal Symbols guarantee a win in virtually every free spin, which amounts to a good chunk of the RTP leaving less room for hyper wins. Still, you can score 50,000 times your bet, although only time will tell if any player will be able to hit that limit.

The slot was exclusively released at William Hill on 1st January 2020, we do however expect it to go global at some point.
