Brace for the majestic bird to rise from the ashes on the slot from Blueprint Gaming. Eternal Phoenix Megaways is introducing the new Power Play feature where players can choose to have a guaranteed minimum number of Megaways on every spin at an extra cost. The encounter with the mythological bird comes with wild substitutions, cascading symbols, reactive wins, mystery symbols and a free spins round with an extra gamble and progressive multipliers that can lead to wins of up to 50,000 times your bet or 250,000 credits, whichever is reached first.

Slot Details

Eternal Phoenix Megaways is a video slot with six reels, featuring 2 – 7 rows and 324 – 117,649 ways to win on every spin. You can witness the eternal bird rising from the ashes on desktop or mobile from 0.10 to 10 credits per spin. The game has high volatility with a subpar RTP of 95.50%. At press time, there was no indication as to whether using the Power Play feature would increase the RTP value.

Thanks to the Megaways game engine under licence from Big Time Gaming, the number of ways is randomly determined for every spin with the game engine selecting between two and seven pay symbols for reels 1 & 6 as well as two to six pay symbols for reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Additionally, the game has an extra tracker at the top of the game window with four positions, extending from reel two to five, where more symbols appear on every spin.

Wins are paid for two to six adjacent symbols from left to right only. All from a combo will then explode to make room for new symbols to drop into place, potentially starting a chain reaction that will continue as long as more new wins occurs after a cascade.

Slots featuring the mythological bird are usually intense affairs with lots of fire and dramatic sounds. Blueprint Gaming obliged and gave it visuals to match the cliché, adding hot lava streams among rugged rock formations to the background. A number of mythical symbols populate the reels while Phoenix cries will be heard intermittently through the otherwise suspenseful soundtrack.

The pay symbols start at the low with card royals from 9 through to A, awarding 1x to 1.5x your bet for a single six of a kind. they are followed by four stones symbolizing the natural powers – blue water, green earth and red fire – as well as the mighty Phoenix bird. Hit six across the reels to win 2x to 50x your stake.

The game has three special symbols. A flaming icon marked with the word itself is the wild, appearing in the top tracker only and substituting for all regular symbols. A green orb marked with Bonus is the scatter while what seems like a dragon’s egg acts as the mystery symbol.

Eternal Phoenix Megaways Slot Features

Blueprint Gaming used to be one of the main drivers in the Megaways niche, releasing over 20 games within a relatively short period. They went rather quiet at the end of 2020 before reemerging in July 2021 with Thai Flower Megaways, a rather nonchalant upgrade of the original Thai Flower slot. Eternal Phoenix Megaways is the next addition to their portfolio with a combination of known features and one extra that could separate it from the masses.

Eternal Phoenix Megaways Power Play

The new item on Eternal Phoenix Megaways is the introduction of the Power Play feature. Clicking on the button to the left of the reels (desktop) will bring up a selection of options to chose from that will give you a guaranteed number of Megaways on every spin in the base game and free spins for an additional cost:

  • Standard Game – Default Bet: Random number of 324 – 117,649 Megaways on every spin.
  • Level 1 – 1.5x Default Bet: Random number of 5,000 – 117,649 Megaways on every spin.
  • Level 2 – 2.5x Default Bet: Random number of 10,000 – 117,649 Megaways on every spin.
  • Level 3 – 3.5x Default Bet: Random number of 15,000 – 117,649 Megaways on every spin.
  • Level 4 – 5x Default Bet: Random number of 20,000 – 117,649 Megaways on every spin.

While the options sound like an attractive offer to increase the number of bet ways and as a result the chances to hit a win, it is worth noting that the paytable used is for the default bet. Activating the Power Play feature will not increase payouts but it will undoubtedly see you hitting wins and triggering the free spins more often.

The Mystery Symbol is making a return on this occasion. Dragon egg icons may land on all reels including the horizontal tracker on any spin or cascade in the base game and free spins. Once the reels have stopped, they will reveal one common symbol, including the top-paying Phoenix. However, they cannot unveil wilds or scatters.

Eternal Phoenix Megaways Free Spins Gamble

Hitting three, four, five or six scatters anywhere on the reels will trigger 8, 12, 16 and 20 Free Spins respectively. Before the start of the round, you will be offered a Free Spins Gamble to potentially increase the number of spins up to a maximum of 30 Free Spins. The pie wheel indicates the true chances of winning or losing a gamble. You can collect at any time and start your feature. Up to the 3rd stage, losing a gamble will see you forfeit the entire feature, hence, some caution is recommended.

Once you collected or reached the maximum 30 free spins in the gamble, you will be heading into the feature with an x1 starting win multiplier. It will increase by x1 after every winning reaction, no limits. Landing three or four egg scatters in the top tracker will retrigger +5 and +10 free spins respectively, again, with no limit unless you hit the win cap at 50,000x bet or 250,000 credits.

Final Verdict

Eternal Phoenix Megaways is a solid Megaways game, nothing more, nothing less. It has not much that would be surprising other than the Power Play feature, which admittedly has some attraction. We recommend some caution in using it as the slot has after all high volatility and any larger bet could diminish your balance much quicker.

Note: The release date is yet to be confirmed. The review will be updated the soon we receive the exact date.
