A spectacular view of the plains in the American West at sunset provide the fitting backdrop to this hilarious reel brawl between the bull and the matador who are now joined by the mighty buffalo. A country soundtrack combined with occasional cries from the protagonists are the main audio for the gameplay.
The pay symbols start at the low end with card royals from 9 through to A, awarding 0.8x to 1.6x your bet for a single six of a kind. They are followed by bears, wolves, pumas, eagles and the mighty buffalo. Six across the reels pay 2.4x to 6x your stake. A golden buffalo coin acts as the scatter.
The game has a range of wilds with the standard being the initial T marked with the word itself. A sunset scene of the plains is the Multiplier Wild while Toro himself is the Walking Wild. The matador can appear too on all reels but has no pay value.

Buffalo Toro Slot Features
Buffalo Toro is the next addition to the mini series from Elk Studios that started in November 2016 with Wild Toro. Since then the hilarious bull has traveled the world to face the wacky matador in various arenas. On this occasion, he is making a stop in the good ole’ Wild West. Stetson on, six-shooter polished and let’s dive into the features.
The wilds play an outsized role in this humorous reel brawl as they can significantly boost your potential wins. First up, the Multiplier Wild. Any time it lands in a winning combination it will reveal an x2 or x3 multiplier. More than one in a combo will be added.
An even bigger impact could have the Toro Wild. Any time the bull lands, he will turn into a Walking Wild and trigger the Respin feature. Toro will stay on screen and walk to the left by one reel on each respin until he disappears from view. More than one can be on the reels at any one time. All respins are free.
Hitting a Matador symbol on the triggering spin or on a respin will activate the Toro Goes Wild modifier. The Toro will charge towards the matador, first vertically then horizontally, and blast him off the reels while leaving a trail of wilds in his wake. Should you be lucky enough to have multiple matadors in view, then Toro will charge first towards the one on his reel, then to the right followed by those on the left. Only one Toro will charge on any given trigger.
And there is more. Should two or more Matadors hit without Toro, then a Matador respin is awarded for another chance to get the bull to make an appearance in the reel arena. Landing another matador will extend the respins until no further occur or Toro materializes.
Elk Studios is following the trend of including more than one type of main bonus features on its slots. On this occasion, we get either Free Spins or Super Free Spins. The former is triggered by landing standard scatters while the latter will need one Super Scatter to appear on reel six. Three, four, five or six will trigger 8, 12, 16 and 20 spins respectively. During either of the features, two to six scatters will retrigger + 4 to +20 spins, no limits.
Before the start of the round, the four premiums from bear to eagle are lined up on a horizontal display at the top. The aim in the free spins is to collect golden buffalo symbols to consecutively upgrade them all to the top-paying buffalo. You will need three golden icons for each premium, up to a a maximum of 12 after which no further golden buffalo will appear. After reaching the max, only buffalo, royal, multiplier wild, scatter, Wild Toro and Matador symbols will land on the remaining free spins. The Wild Toro and Toro Goes Wild can hit too just as much as Multiplier Wilds.
And now to the only difference between the two modes. Super Free Spins come with Rampage Reels that contain only buffalo symbols. The modifier will activate after the first premium is upgraded giving you 1 – 2 rampage reels on every following free spin. Upgrading the wolves increased that to 1-3, while the puma gets you 1-4 and lastly the eagle will activate 1-5 Rampage Reels. The feature ends when you run out of spins or reach the maximum payout at 50,000x bet.
The X-iter offers players residing in unrestricted jurisdictions a whole variety of bonus buy options. You can spend between 10x your bet for a guaranteed Matador Respin up to 500x for the Super Bonus Free Spins. Once confirmed, the game will start a spin that is guaranteed to trigger the purchased feature.
Buffalo Toro feels like a good addition to the Toro franchise, introducing new features while keeping the main DNA from the 2016 original. The charging bull is still very much part of the gameplay and will deliver at times big and possibly mega wins in the base game. Even better when the feature triggers during the bonus round as it extends the time available to collect golden buffalo for the upgrades. A top win potential of 50,000x is most certainly worth a visit to the Wild West arena. Ole, or better said, Yeehaw!
