The fiery dragon of Dreadmaw mountain has awoken after years of slumber to once again cause mayhem on the slot from Fantasma Games powered by Relax Gaming. Heroes Hunt Megaways is looking for brave spinners to join the three protagonists on a high-volatility reel chase to hunt down the beastly creature. Slaying it with wild substitutions, three unlockable modifiers and two free spin modes will reward victorious warriors with a dukes ransom worth up to 26,000 times your bet.
Recommended Casinos to play Heroes Hunt Megaways
Heroes Hunt Megaways is a video slot with six reels, each up to six symbols high creating 64 to 46,656 ways to win, using the trademarked game engine under licence from Big Time Gaming. You can be a dragon hunter for a reel session on desktop or mobile from 0.20 to 40 credits per spin. The game has high volatility with an RTP of 96.65% and a hit frequency of 26.86%.
The entrance to the dragon’s lair is in the background of the tall game window that includes an action display at the top. Finding three keys in a game round will open the gate to the hidden treasure chamber. A win counter on the left will keep you informed of your current spin results. The three protagonists together with the dragon dominate the action on the reels with modifiers and retriggers.
The low and medium-value symbols are made up of four gemstones in turquoise, blue, green and purple colours, followed by skull coins and a king crown. The three heroes – the squirrel, the bird and the lion – are the premiums while the dragon is the top payer, although he appears in the Dragon Free Spins only. Hitting six across the reels will pay 20x your bet.
The game has a range of special symbols – arrows, swords and orbs are each associated with the characters and will activate the respective feature. A golden key is the scatter with three needed in the collection counter to trigger the Dragon Free Spins. A treasure chest is an additional wild symbol and will randomly help unlock more hero features or unleash a mimic that will lead to the second bonus mode.
Heroes Hunt Megaways Slot Features
Anyone who has tried Temple Tumble Megaways from Relax Gaming will have a good indication as to what to expect on this Megaways creation. While the gameplay and features are different, the cascading reel mechanic with the unlocking blockers plays out in a rather similar fashion.
At the start of a spin sequence, a random configuration of symbols and stone blockers cascades onto the reels, giving you anything from 64 to 46,656 ways. To score a winner, you will need to hit three to six matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the left. The symbols from the combo will shatter and new symbols drop into the empty spaces to potentially create more wins. The process is then repeated until no more winners land after a cascade.
At the top of the game window are three positions, one for each hero and their associated modifiers – Explosion, Expansion and Respin. All three are locked, however, you can start your play by picking one of the three to be active. The two other heroes have to be unlocked through the gameplay by landing the treasure chest symbol. It will open to award experience points with three needed to unlock the next hero. Alternatively, it will trigger the Mimic Free Spins (more to that shortly). Here’s a short description of the heroes’ powers to assist you in your choice for the active hero at the start of your session.
- Wizard Orb – Explosion Feature: Landing an orb will see the witty bird placing a 2×2 or 3×3 mega portal on a random position on the grid that will shatter anything it covers. Symbols will be replaced with new ones while blockers will explode to open more ways to win.
- Lion Warrior Sword – Expansion Wild Feature: Landing a sword will see the lion jumping into the fray to create one full-reel height wild for each sword and add a random multiplier of x1 to x6 to each. More than one expanded wild are multiplied by each other for potentially insane win multipliers.
- Squirrel Archer Arrows – Respin Feature: A pair of crossed arrows appearing anywhere on the reels will unleash a gale of 3 – 20 arrows with all hit symbols being removed and replaced with new ones to potentially create more winning combos. Additional feature symbols can appear as a result of this modifier.
Multiple feature symbols can land simultaneously and throughout a spin sequence, unleashing the respective hero’s power on each occasion if they are active in the display on the top of the game window. Unlocking all three characters within a spin sequence will see key symbols being added to the reels which can then land on any spin. Collecting three keys will trigger 10 Dragon Free Spins. Dragon symbols are added to all six reels, serving in a dual function as the top payer and free spins retrigger. The dragon will award +1 free spins every time he lands and the symbol is shattered either via a cascade after a win or through any of the three modifiers, no limits. Once the round concludes, you can choose again a hero to restart the unlocking sequence.
Should the treasure chest symbol land on a spin, it will award EXP points or trigger 10 Mimic Free Spins, which cannot be retriggered. During the feature, the treasure chest appearing on reels two to five acts as a wild symbol while all three hero features are active. Once the round ends, you will return to the base game with the same configuration before the trigger to continue the unlocking of the heroes.
After releasing with Flower Fortunes and Medallion two Megaways games with an out-of-the-box character that unfortunately didn’t resonate overly well with the casino community although they are truly creative slots, Fantasma went for a more conventional approach on Heroes Hunt Megaways. Taking inspiration from partner studio Relax Gaming, they built their own version of the reel mechanic with unlocking symbols that might look very similar at first sight but works quite differently, surely, just as suspenseful and also frustrating as on Temple Tumble Megaways. Overall, a big step forward for the small but creative Swedish game studio.
