Joker Megaways is a classic video slot with three reels and up to eight rows. Using the licensed game engine, each reel will contain two to eight symbols on every spin, resulting in 8 to 512 ways to win. Wins are awarded for three matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. Available on desktop and mobile, you can bet from 0.10 to 100 credits per spin. Admittedly, the announcement of this slot creation took us by surprise and we needed a quick Google search to find out who’s behind Games Inc. Turns out they have been active in iGaming since 2012 as what seems like a support studio to established developers like NetEnt and others. That changed in late 2019 when they signed up to the partnership program of Relax Gaming, giving them the access to the coveted Megaways game engine.

They decided to combine the engine with a 3×3 classic slot, something no other studio has done to date, which should be a plus as it appeals to a niche of players who are steadfast fans of traditional fruit machines. Games Inc went to great length to keep the charm while propping up the gameplay with various features that bring Joker Megaways into the 21st century.

Core to the gameplay is the Megaways engine, which will spin two to eight symbols per reel into view, giving players anything from 8 to 512 ways to win. Pays are only awarded when you land three symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the left. More than one symbol on a reel will multiply the win. As seen in the screenshot, the spin paid 4x times three-of-a-kind bells. Any win in the base game can be increased by using the Gamble feature. Select spades or hearts to double your win up to eight times or up to 500 times your bet.

Hitting Joker scatters on all three reels in one spin will trigger 10 Free Spins which can be indefinitely retriggered. During the feature, the Joker will turn into a scatter wild, substituting for all pay symbols while landing again one on each reel will retrigger another 10 free spins. And that is not the end yet. Each Joker landing will increase the progressive multiplier by x1, no limits.

Final Verdict

It was only a matter of time for a developer to take a classic fruit machine and upgrade it with the immensely popular Megaways engine. Little did we think it would be a virtually unknown game studio that has not been present in any casino lobbies to date. Games Inc is a UK-based company, which has been around for the best part of this decade, although rather unnoticed to the general playing public. The release of Joker Megaways is bound to put them on the map in an increasingly crowded and highly competitive market.

The debut slot is rather intriguing as it combines two extremes into an entertaining slot with big win potential. And there is more to come from the studio as they announced already the release of Mega Mayans for Q2/2020 which will have up to 60 million (not a typo) ways to win.
