A cold mountainous landscape provides the home for the Alpha Eagle, with prey for pay symbols and a dreamy, repetitive beat to captivate as the reels spin. Snowflakes fall for effect, and the game comes with the raw and immersive personality, by design, that is found across the range of Hacksaw Gaming’s slots.
The pay symbols start at the low end with 10, J, Q, K and A, and will pay from 2x to 3x your bet for five on a pay line. Feather, fish, owl, hatchling and eagle symbols follow, and five-of-a-kind awards from 7.5x to 25x your bet. A frozen W represents the wild symbol, which substitutes all others except for the S’N’S symbols, the FS scatter, the golden eagle, and the eagle claw scatters, which are special symbols that trigger features detailed below.
Alpha Eagle Stack’n’Sync Slot Features
Hacksaw Gaming presented its stacked reels mechanic Stack ‘n’ Sync, or S’N’S, on Buffalo Stack’ n’ Sync. Known for extremely volatile games capable of delivering a powerful punch, Alpha Eagle Stack’ n’ Sync is the next in what could be the start of a series for the studio and reason enough for a closer look.
Central to the gameplay, the Stack ‘n’ Sync feature can trigger on any spin throughout the base game and free spins bonus. When the S’N’S symbol lands, the corresponding reel becomes highlighted for the feature, along with one to four more reels chosen randomly. The game then triggers a respin with a matching stacked symbol and synced reels that will come to rest with the same layout.
The symbol used and the size of the reel stacks are displayed above the reels. Stack sizes are shown as stars, with 1, 2, 3 and 4 stars representing quarter, half, three-quarter and full reel stacks of symbols. Any symbol except the claw scatters can be chosen at random to be stacked, including wilds and the free spins scatter. Should another S’N’S symbol land on the respin, the process will repeat, adding to the stacks already in play, and award a further respin.
Furthermore, landing the golden S’N’S symbol on a spin will trigger the Golden Stack’ n’ Sync feature, where all five reels are stacked and synced. During a golden S’N’S feature, only a high-paying symbol or wilds will be selected for the respin, along with a global win multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x15, x20, x25, x50 or x100, to be applied to any wins.
The Free Spins bonus can be won by landing the FS scatter symbol only during the Stack ‘n’ Sync feature. The number of scatters that land will determine your number of awarded spins, with one for each scatter up to a maximum of twenty for a full screen. During the bonus round, there are higher chances of landing the S’N’S and golden S’N’S symbols to activate the Stack ‘n’ Sync feature. The Free Spins bonus game cannot be retriggered.
Land three eagle claw scatters on a spin to trigger the Eagle Link Bonus. The reels change to feature eagle symbols, golden eagles, and non-active greyed-out symbols, and the game has two phases, a ‘collect’ phase and a ‘payout’ phase. The collect phase starts with a count of three spins that can be replenished by landing eagles and golden eagles, which stick upon landing and reset the spin count.
Golden eagles activate the Eagle Link feature, which groups horizontally and vertically adjacent eagles together. When the collect phase ends from three blank spins in a row, all golden eagles and linked eagle symbols will lock in position and be carried through into the payout phase. Any unlinked eagle symbols will be removed from the reels.
The payout phase starts with the locked golden eagles and linked eagles in place and three free spins. During the round, a golden eagle will stick in place for the remainder of the bonus and award an extra spin. Regular eagle symbols do not stick but will contribute toward connecting wins. The payout phase also features a global win multiplier that correlates to the number of golden eagle symbols in play, e.g. five golden eagles equal an x5 win multiplier.
Where available, Alpha Eagle Stack’ n’ Sync comes with four Bonus Buy options. Hacksaw Gaming’s Featurespins are enhanced spin choices, which remain active until disabled:
- Bonus Featurespins | 2x bet: With this feature enabled, you are three times more likely to trigger one of the two bonus games.
- S’N’S Featurespins | 10x Bet: A guaranteed S’N’S symbol on every paid-for spin.
- Free Spins | 100x Bet: Entry into the Free Spins bonus by way of a Stack ‘n’ Spin triggering spin.
- Eagle Link | 200x Bet: Instant access to the Eagle Link feature. Comes with an extreme volatility rating from Hacksaw Gaming.
Though Alpha Eagle Stack’ n’ Sync flies the same S’N’S badge, it is a very different beast from its furry counterpart. Buffalo Stack’ n’ Sync has a slower-paced base game, and S’N’S reels are linked gradually, whereas this sequel provides quicker spin sequences from a twist in the design. Aided by the introduction of a golden S’N’S symbol, Alpha Eagle Stack’ n’ Sync can throw out full screens at random, plus it has an extra bonus game labelled as extremely volatile – a statement not to be taken lightly from one of the masters of extremely volatile games. If you’re a fan of the first game to feature the S’N’S symbols or just a Hacksaw fan, Alpha Eagle Stack’ n’ Sync should meet expectations.
