Travel to the ancient pyramids in the Egyptian desert on the slot from gaming giant IGT. Pyramidion stands for the top of the pyramid and is fittingly playing a key role on this game. It will award four different reel modifiers and two types of free spins that can lead to wins of up to 1,250 times your stake on a single spin.
Pyramidion is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 20 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for two to five matching symbols on a line from left to right only. Your expedition to the ancient pyramids on desktop or mobile will cost you 0.20 to 200 credits per spin. The RTP of this high variance game is in the range from 92.39 – 96.39%.
A simple, transparent game window with some coloured strings as reel dividers stands in front of a desert scene with three pyramids. The top of the main pyramid is covered in gold and will start shaking and emitting electrical beams when announcing the potential trigger of the random features, although it often ends up being a teaser spin.
The pay symbols start at the low end with the usual card royals from 10 to A, paying 2x to 4x your bet for a single five of a kind. They are followed by five intricate icons in different colours – green flower, purple flower, dark blue snake, red scarab, light blue pyramidion. Hit five on a pay line to win 4x to 25x your stake.
The standard wild will substitute for all regular pay symbols and award 50x your bet for a 5OAK. Scatters are a red icon with the word “Bonus” appearing on reel one and three only. Two different scatters can land on reel five, which will determine the type of free spins to be awarded. Pyramidions can land on any reels at random, triggering the four base game features.
Pyramidion Slot Features
You will start collecting your first treasures in the base game with no less than four reel modifiers when you land two or more pyramidions anywhere on the reels in one spin. The more you hit, the more powerful the feature will be. A small wheel appears in the middle of the screen, where you will get one spin to determine which modifier is awarded. The reels respin and the won modifier is activated.
- Sunbeam Wilds: Sunbeams are shooting out of the sky and turn a random number of symbols into wilds
- Waterfall Stacks: The respin starts with waterfalls covering all five reels. Some will dry up starting from the right, while those which keep flowing will unveil common symbol stacks.
- Obelisk Wilds: A random number of obelisks will rise from the ground and turn entire reels wild
- Mighty Reel: The three centre reels transform into a connected reel, which will contain only 3×3 mega symbols.
Bigger rewards will come from the two free spins round. First are the Temple of Power Free Spins when you land two bonus scatters on reels one and three as well as the respective icon on reel five. You will trigger 8 free spins which cannot be retriggered. Power Wilds marked with a lightning strike are added to the reels and a meter appears to the left. It will start at zero and increase by +1 on every free spin. Whenever a Power Wild lands on a free spin, a number of surrounding symbols equal to the number on the meter will turn into a wild symbol. By spin eight, you have the potential to turn eight symbols into wilds, which means that landing two Power Wilds on the last spin could lead to a full screen of wilds, paying 1,000x your bet.
Prepare for the final treasure chest on the Pyramidion slot. Temple of Mystery Free Spins will be triggered when you land the bonus symbols on reels one and three and the designated scatter on reel five. A wild reel with a x2 multiplier appears on reel five and will move randomly one reel to the left on a free spin. The multiplier will increase by x1 when it does not move. The round ends when the multiplier reel has moved across the game window and a mini-reel stop icon appears on reel one.
To be honest, I had to google pyramidion as at first I thought it was some word twist from IGT but to my surprise found out that it actually means the top of the pyramid. Taking that cue, will this creation from the gaming giant be on top of the pile of online slots? Well, it is surely a solid effort and one of the better games I have seen coming from IGT.
The thing that I found annoying are the too frequent teaser spins as you have the pyramidion and the bonus scatters on the reels. The screen starts shaking and the big pyramid in the background lights up the soon one lands which of course is no guarantee that there will be more appearing. In fact, by far in most cases it will end with just a dead spin, or if you’re lucky with some line win.
