Join Fingers and Knuckles to spin your way to freedom on the slot from Inspired Gaming. Prison Escape is pitching you against the grim wardens on a board game-style reel escape adventure with coin wins and three increasingly volatile bonus features. Get through the Warden’s Office, the Workshop and ultimately the Control Room for a glorious Escape to Paradise and wins of up to 6,250 times your bet or 250,000 credits whichever is reached first.

Slot Details

Prison Escape is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 10 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols on a line from left to right only. You can join the two protagonists on desktop or mobile from 0.10 to 40 credits per spin. The game has medium volatility with an overall RTP of 95.90%. Based on which bonus game you decide to accept, the RTP ranges from just 31.75% to 96.30%. Using the walkie talkie advice given throughout the bonus game will achieve the top RTP for the game.

Load the game to find you inside a prison cell looking out into the inner court through a barred window with light beams protruding the darkness in search of possible wannabe escapees. The two main characters, Fingers and Knuckles feature prominently on the reels wearing their prisoner numbers and plotting their next escape plan the soon you trigger the bonus game. An epic soundtrack is minutely synchronized to the events on the reels.

The pay symbols start at the low end with the card royals from J through to A, awarding across the board 5x your bet for a single five of a kind. They are followed by a prisoner bus, a searchlight, a grim warden as well as Fingers and Knuckles. Hit five on a line to win 10x to 16x your stake. The top symbol is the slot logo, yielding 20x your bet when five land across the reels.

A golden keyhole marked with the word itself is the wild symbol, substituting for all regular pay symbols. It appears on reels two, three and four in the base game and on all reels during the Control Room bonus. A blueprint with a torchlight acts as the bonus symbol, appearing on reels one, three and five only.

Prison Escape Slot Features

Will they make their Escape to Paradise? Inspired Gaming turned the plans of the two protagonists into a hilarious reel adventure that will take you on a board game-style Blueprint Bonus Trail where you have to pass wardens and three locations to finally reach paradise for a spin on a giant Paradise Fortune prize wheel.

There are three ways of entering the bonus game. You can gain direct access by hitting scatters on reels one, three and five in one spin or you can use the Gamble feature on the right of the game window. It has three settings – off, gamble all wins, gamble wins of 5x bet and above. Taking the gamble will see the two protagonists slide on a zip line. You will be rewarded with the entry to the bonus game should they make it to the end without falling off. Finally, you can exchange any win of 23x your total stake or higher for a direct feature trigger.

Triggering the Blueprint Bonus Trail via any of the three options will lead you to a board game with a trail taking you through three locations on your way to the final Escape to Paradise prize wheel. Advancing on the trail is done by rolling the dice on the right of the screen.

At the bottom of the board are the three stations on the trail – Warden’s Office, Workshop and Control Room – with an increasing win potential and volatility. Each has four prize levels which you can raise by landing on the respective signs – keys, spanners and joysticks – on the board when you throw the dice. For example, you will need to land twice on a key sign to increase the prize level for the Warden’s Office bonus.

  • Warden’s Office Bonus: Pick-and-click game with lockers. Level 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 will get you a coin win of 10x and two picks | a coin win of 25x and two picks | a coin win of 50x and three picks | a coin win of 50x and four picks plus one locker contains one extra key. You can accept to play the bonus game at any stage as long as one of the two prisoners is still in the game.
  • Workshop Bonus: Accept or reject a prize offer for workshop tools. Based on the level for the bonus game you can reject the offer 1, 2, 3, or 4 times. On level 1 | 2 | 3 | 4, the offers contain up to  2 | 2 | 3 | 4 tools, each worth a random coin win.
  • Control Room Bonus: Awards free spins with temporarily locked wilds. On level 1 | 2  | 3 | 4 you will get 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 free spins with wilds being sticky for 2 | 2 | 3 | 4 free spins when they land. Wilds can appear on all reels during the feature. A full screen will pay the maximum win in a single spin of 200x your bet.
  • Escape to Paradise: Getting out of prison will be rewarded with one spin on the Paradise Fortune Wheel. Reaching it with one life will see prizes ranging from 40x to 250x your total bet while getting there with two lives will add a top prize of 1,000x bet to the wheel.

Progress on the board by repeatedly rolling the dice. A click on the walkie talkie will whisper the optimal strategy and following it will yield the best RTP results in the long run. You can choose to play any of the bonus games once you reach the respective rooms. Clicking on the icons at the bottom will display the progress and current prize level. The bonus round will end once you choose to play one of the games.

Along the way on the board are a number of guards that will arrest you and put you in a solitary cell. As you start out with Knuckles and Fingers, you have two lives, meaning that after the first arrest you will continue with just one of the two prisoners. The game ends when you play one of the bonus game, reach the final prize wheel or both prisoners have been caught. There is one dial sign on the board, landing on it will initiate the Shift Change feature, which is essentially a 50/50 pie gamble that can remove some or all guards. Landing on green will remove a random number of guards on the board and thus significantly increasing your chances to make it to the end.

Lastly, should your balance drop below the current bet value but remains higher than zero, then the game will automatically offer you the Spin Chance. It gives you one chance to win one more spin at the current bet size. A pie chart indicates your chances to win the gamble. Click on PLAY to start the gamble and the marker will start spinning. It will be a winner if the marker ends in the green zone. You can always click on NO to return back to the game screen with the remaining balance.

Final Verdict

What looks awfully complicated and convoluted, will become all easy and clear once you played the bonus game a few times. Overall., Prison Escape is a hilarious slot with ample features, high entertainment value and medium win potential. The best you can score is 1,000x your bet on the Paradise Fortune Wheel. There is not much to be pocketed in the base game but the Blueprint Bonus Trail triggers frequently enough to keep you going.
