Slot Details

Deadwood is a video slot in a 3-4-4-4-3 format with 576 ways to win.  Pays are awarded for three to five matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. You can join the gunslingers on desktop or mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has maximum volatility (10/10) with an RTP range of 96.02 – 96.03%. Some operators might offer it with the secondary RTP setting which is noted with 94.14 – 94.15%, always read the help files to find out which version you will be playing.

Loading the game will see you entering the Main Street of the wild west town alongside your three gunslinger companions. You might want to stop at the Deadwood saloon for a hearty meal that will bolster your energy before heading into the shoot out with the outlaws. A metal frame holds the larger reel set that is now three and four rows high. Each of three bounty hunters commands its own reel, delivering increasing multipliers as they nudge into full view.

The pay symbols start at the low end with the card royals from 10 through to A, beautifully grafted from rough metal pieces with bullet marks and awarding between 1x to 1.25x your bet for a single five of a kind. They are followed by shotguns, whiskey bottles, broken safes, pocket watches and a set of three gold bars. Hit five across the reels to win 1.5x to 3.75x your stake. The three gunslingers are xNudge Wilds, each appearing on its designated reel and substituting for all regular symbols. A buffalo skull marked with the word itself is the scatter while a sheriff badge acts as the bonus symbol.

Deadwood Slot Features

Did you ever spin the reels on Tombstone? Then you will have a good indication as to what you can expect on this NoLimit City creation. The sequel, however, has been cranked up in all areas, the number of ways to win, the features and the win potential. Core to the gameplay are still the Hunter xNudge Wilds. They are 4-symbols high stacks of the three gunslingers, each appearing on its own reel from two to four. The xNudge mechanic triggers when they land in partial view only, nudging them up or down until they cover the entire reel. For every nudge, the win multiplier increases by x1, leading to a maximum x4 multiplier. More than one landing on a spin will be added for a total win multiplier of up to x12. In the base game, all multipliers are reset before the next spin starts.

Landing two Sheriff badges anywhere on reels one and five will trigger the Shoot-Out feature. All low-value royals in view on the three middle reels will turn into single wilds for the current spin. The badges will cause even more mayhem when they land together in any of the two free spins features (see below).

Deadwood Free Spins Selector

Hitting three skull scatters on the centre reels in one spin will trigger the Free Spins feature. On every occasion, you will be offered two modes for your bonus round, each with its own modifiers and volatility.

  • Hunter Spins – High Volatility: Gets you 8 free spins with at least one Hunter xNudge Wild landing on every spin. Multipliers are awarded for each nudge as usual but will reset between free spins.  One sheriff badge on reel one or five will add +1 free spin while landing them both in a free spin will upgrade your round to the Shoot Out Free Spins.
  • Gunslinger Free Spins – Extreme Volatility: Gets you 8 free spins with an unlimited multiplier. Any Hunter xNudge Wild landing and nudging will increase the win multiplier by x1 for each nudge. The multiplier will not reset as in the base game but will keep growing, no limits. One sheriff badge will also add +1 free spin while two will take you again into the Shoot Out Free Spins.
NoLimit City - Deadwood Gunslinger Shoot Out Free Spins

Deadwood Gunslinger Shoot Out Free Spins

Having three skull scatters and both sheriff badges landing in one spin will trigger the Shoot Out Free Spins feature. Alternatively, you can be upgraded via the standard bonus rounds. You can select again – 8 Hunter or 8 Gunslinger Spins – with the added benefit that all low-value royals landing on the three centre reels turning into single wilds for the current free spin. Entering the round via an upgrade will keep the same free spins mode.

Lastly, those impatient among us slot players can use the NoLimit Bonus Feature Buy button to gain instant access to the free spins (restricted in some jurisdictions). You can spend 71x your default bet for a standard feature or fork out a massive 750x (not a typo) for the Shoot-Out options.

Final Verdict

Yeehaw! Got to exclaim that again after finishing the review of Deadwood. Looking back, it makes the already very volatile Tombstone slot look like a walk in the park or better said a game for greenhorns. The folks at NoLimit City have had an immense increase in their popularity curve over the past two years and Deadwood is bound to take them further up by not just one but quite a few notches.

Considering the high volatility, they managed to give it a good balance between money-grabbing monster and huge gunslinger bounty. The base game is not as brutal as on Tombstone thanks to the increase to four reel positions with the potential to score larger multipliers and thus bigger wins. However, the choices for your bonus features are high or extreme volatility, not something for the fainthearted but with potentially massive rewards of up to 13,950x bet.
