Slot Details

Misery Mining xBomb is a cascading video slot in a 3×3 format with 27 ways to win as default. Throughout the gameplay, the size can increase up to a maximum of 7×7 with then 823,543 ways. Wins are awarded for landing three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels with the payouts varying based on how many reels are opened up in the current spin sequence. You can join the wacky prospector on desktop, tablet or mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has extreme volatility (10/10) with a default RTP range between 96.00 – 96.09% based on which bonus feature a player chooses. The DX1 version is offered with a reduced setting at 94.05%.

The gameplay is set in a new mine where the angry dwarf carries on with his lifelong mission to find the perfect cold one. The dilapidated state of the mine indicates that he’s not been yet successful in his search, yet he ventures on across an ever-changing game grid that looks tiny at the start of every round but can grow to a monster 7×7 size via a variety of modifiers and events. The soundtrack sounds like the title indicates, miserable yet suspenseful with increasing tempo and noises as the game window grows.

The pay symbols start at the low end with card royals from 10 through to A, awarding 0.15x – 0.65x your bet for a three of a kind on the default 3×3 grid. The payout for a 3OAK decreases to 0.10x – 0.45x when four or five reels are freed and further to 0.05 – 0.25x with six or seven open reels. The payouts for 7-of-a-kind royals range between 2x to 4.25x your stake.

Premiums are pipe, compass, whiskey bottle, rat and the angry dwarf. Applying the same principle as for the royals, we get payouts between 0.8x to 1.4x for a 3OAK, reducing to 0.35x to 0.6x when all seven reels are opened. Similarly, hitting a seven of a kind will award the highest pays, ranging from 5.25x to 16x your stake.

A dynamite bundle is again the wild, substituting for all regular symbols and also setting off some of the effects that will increase the game grid. Two scatter types can land on the reels, the standard being a coin marked with S while the super scatter is a golden mining card. A variety of extra symbols will be appearing in the bonus features (more to that shortly).

Misery Mining xBomb Slot Features

Fans of Fire in the Hole will instantly recognize the similarities and most probably will be looking forward to playing the sequel although the default format will confuse some at first. Misery Mining xBomb is yet again an explosive affair with the constant grid changes, different modifiers and most of all, an increased win potential of up to 70,000 times your bet. Let’s start digging for Le Grande Jaune.

Misery Mining xBomb Slot Spin Sequence

All spins in the base game start in a 3×3 format with 27 bet ways with the rest of the 7×7 grid closed off by barriers. A total of 49 symbols and stone blockers will then drop onto the reels, although only those landing in the 3×3 zone will count at first. Score a win and the symbols in a combo are removed before new ones drop in from the top, potentially letting you win again and again in the same spin sequence. Nolimit City is calling what we know as cascading or tumbling symbols the Collapsing Mine mechanic.

Landing an xBomb Wild next to a barrier will also trigger the Collapsing Mine mechanic once no more wins occur. The dynamite bundle will explode, removing the symbols and/or stone blockers directly adjacent to it and moving the barrier by one reel for each xBomb, thus gradually increasing the grid. All barriers will move by one reel when the xBomb Wild appears in the centre position of the currently active zone. The expansion continues until the maximum size of 7×7 with 823,543 is active or no more wins occur.

Having less than three scatters in view at any time during a spin sequence with no more new wins appearing after a collapse, will see the single/both scatters transform into non-wild xBombs, performing then the same modification and effects as the original xBomb Wild. And there is more. Each exploded xBomb will increase the win multiplier by x1, no limits. All, including any expansions and multipliers, will reset between spins.

Misery Mining xBomb Slot – Free Spins in Rat Mode

Hitting three standard scatters will get you closer to Le Grande Jaune by triggering the Misery Free Spins. Two options are offered for your feature – Mouse Mode and Rat Mode. Both are in a similar style to the bonus game on Fire in the Hole and will start with the grid in a 3×3 format with three standard scatters. Landing on the triggering spin simultaneously one or two Super Scatters will increase the starting size to 4×4 and 5×5 respectively.

The Mouse Mode is the less volatile option, although the reduction is merely from extreme to high. It offers a fixed amount of 8, 10 or 12 Misery Spins for three, four or five scatters, respectively. The aim will be to collect as many coin prizes and extras as possible before you run out of spins. When triggered with less than 2 Super Scatters a retrigger can be hit for the +2 additional spins.

The Rat Mode is extremely volatile and initially starts with 3 respins. Landing coin wagons in the Enhancer Reel on top of standard and Super scatters or multipliers above Super Scatters will reset the counter to three. All other enhancers will not reset the respins. The feature continues until you run out of respins or reach the maximum win potential.

The rest of the bonus game is virtually the same for both options. An Enhancer Tracker is placed at the top of the reels for the duration of the bonus game, where a variety of wagons with gold coins or enhancers will be reeled in continuously. Worth noting is that the coin wagons on the tracker can be empty too.

The 3 to 5 triggering scatters stay on screen and move to a new position after every spin. Should an enhancer stop on top of a standard or super scatter, then it will be activated and applied to each scatter on that reel. Coin prizes are instantly added to the total win while enhancers will offer extras. The value on the scatters will increase with each drop, which can have a significant impact on your winnings if any of the two collectors are activated during the progress of the feature.

On each flank, you have a Side Collector where won coin prizes from the same row are collected. The prize will be added to the collector closest to the coin wagon. Finally, the Bottom Collector will accumulate all coin prizes on the same reel when activated, and that for all remaining spins. Both collectors are locked at the start and will need to be activated by some of the special enhancers.

  • Coin Wagons: A bet multiplier of x1, x5, x10, x15, x25, x50 or x100 is added to each scatter on the same reel.
  • Multipliers: All Super Scattera start with x1 and multipliers landing on the same reel will increase the factor by x2, x3, x4 or x5. The multiplier is applied to all coin values and other enhancers collected by the Super Scatter.
  • Bombs: Any bomb will drop down to each scatter on the same reel and detonate 8 positions around it. First any blockers still in place, thus increasing the game grid, followed by unlocking the collectors on the side and bottom. Any bomb happening to land in the center, will destroy all still blocked positions on the 5×5 grid but will not activate the collectors.
  • Bag: Accumulates all coin values on scatters and any open Side Collector closest to it on the same row before adding the sum to the total win and the triggering scatter.
  • Chest: Accumulates once all coin values in view and all open Side Collectors within a 3-reel distance before adding it to the total win.
  • Dwarf: Will drop down to the lowest scatter on the same reel and stick to to it. The scatter will no longer be able to activate enhancers but will still collect coin values and if stuck on a Super Scatters also multipliers. On every remaining spin, the dwarf will accumulate all coin values in view and any open Side Collectors within a 3-reel distance before adding them to the total win.
  • Rat: Can appear on the enhancer wagons on top of reel one and seven only. It will walk downwards, accumulating all values from open Side Collectors before activating the lowest blocked Side Collector and adding the total coin value. If all are open, the rat will continue to the Bottom Collector.
  • Super Scatter: Can appear on wagons on top of reels 2 or 6 when the feature was triggered with less than five scatters. It will jump to a random empty position and add + 2 spins in Mouse Mode or reset the counter to three when in Rat Mode.

Let’s do a quick recap. Scatters stay on screen and move to a random position on every spin. Stopping enhancers or coin wagons on top of a scatter will be activated and either the coin win added or the enhancer applied. Any time Side Collectors or Bottom Collectors are open, their value is added to the total win after every spin. Keep accumulating prizes and extras unit the end of the feature. Hit the maximum win of 70,000x your bet and you will have found Le Grande Jaune, the perfect cold one.

As usual, Nolimit City included a plethora of Bonus Buy options to suit any type of player and wallet. It starts at 66x bet for the standard 3-scatter trigger, increasing to 250x and a whopping 1000x stake for a 4 and 5-scatter trigger, respectively. Alternatively, you can spend 439x your bet for a random choice, giving you a 1/3 chance for each of the three other options to be triggered. The RTP for all options is slightly higher, ranging between 96.41% to 96.85%.

Final Verdict

Whelp, that was quite something. Misery Mining xBomb will look confusing to even experienced players at the beginning. However, watching the mechanics in the base game play out will soon remove the confusion on how it all works together but might still leave most in doubt what the exact payout will be. As for the bonus features, they turn the usual Hold&Spin mechanics on its head as the scatters move to random positions on every spin. Overall, the search for Le Grand Jaune is great fun and rather suspenseful, albeit very volatile just as the angry dwarf.
