Get ready to experience the five stages of grief on the slot from Nolimit City. Rock Bottom xSplit is taking you down the rabbit hole of insanity across five reels with wild scatters, xSplit modifiers and two free spin modes that can lead to wins of up 19,960 times your bet.
Recommended Casinos to play Rock Bottom xSplit
Rock Bottom is a video slot with five reels in a 3-4-4-4-3 format and 576 ways as default in the base game. Landing xSplit symbols can further increase the number of bet ways. During the bonus features, the grid changes to a 3×4 size. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols landing on adjacent reels from left to right only.
You can relive the five stages of grief on desktop, tablet or mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has high volatility (8/10) with a default RTP at 96.04. Lower models at 94.03% and 92% are offered. Always check the help file for the active setting.
The doom and gloom of hitting rock bottom caries throughout the appearance of the slot. A dark allyway at night flanked by lit houses builds the background for the rather unusual grid shape. The five protagonists representing the five stages of grief – Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance – populate the reels to a moody rock soundtrack.
The pay symbols start at the low end with card royals from 10 through to A, awarding 1.1x to 1.5x your stake for a single five of a kind. They are followed by five stages–of-grief character icons held on purple, green, violet, orange and red backgrounds. Hit five across the reels to win 2.5x to 7.5x your bet. A set of bottles marked with S and W is the scatter wild, substituting for all regular symbols and also triggering the bonus features when minimum three land. Five wilds will yield 7.5x stake.

Rock Bottom Slot Features
Rock Bottom is the first slot in a long time to emanate from the Nolimit City studios to be on a level below extreme volatility. A rather tough undertaking when you concentrate mainly on the top end of the volatility scale as you need to rebalance the gameplay accordingly. Reason enough to take a closer look whether the folks at Nolimit can still release a slot that is maybe a bit more pleasant to our playing balances.
Before going down the rabbit hole of insanity, you can choose whether to activate the Flush xBet feature. Enabling this mode will increase your stake size by 50% and guarantee a scatter wild on reel two with every spin. Overall, it should make it easier to trigger the Free Spins, but there is no guarantee that it will happen, thus, some caution is recommended.
Occurring in the base game only, xSplit Wilds feature on the three centre reels. Upon landing, they will split character icons on the same row into 2, 4 or 8 matching symbols, and themselvs into 2 wilds, thus increasing the number of symbols and potentially the payout. They will also split any character symbol on reels one and five if they are adjacent to the xSplit symbol. However, the modifier will not apply to royals and scatter wilds.
Hitting three or four scatters will trigger 5 Headshrinker Free Spins. Once way wins are evaluated, they will nudge downward and add +1 spin for each position they move until they reach the bottom row. The game grid will change to a 3×4 format with the three middle reels active. Only character symbols and scatter wilds will appear throughout the feature.
To the left and right, you will observe the five characters, each representing one stage in the bonus round. To advance to the next level, you will need to collect wild scatters with five needed to progress.
Each character starts with an x1 multiplier whereas any occurence landing on the three reels will increase the symbol multiplier by x1 for each as long as they are not the currently active Expanding Symbol. The displayed multiplier is applied to all wins with the respective character only. The feature will start with the Denial character being active, who will then expand into full reel height when he lands on a free spin. Hitting one on each reel will result in a 64-ways pay, however, he cannot increase its multiplier beyond the x1.
Advancing to the next stage will see the Anger character becoming the active Expanding Symbol, followed by the Bargaining, Depresssion and Acceptance characters. The multiplier will no longer increase once a character has been activated. Any surpassed characters will no longer expand. The round ends when you run out of spins or hit the maximum win.
Having five scatters land in the base game will trigger 5 Insanity Free Spins with more being added with the same nudge mechanic. There is only one difference to the Headshrinker Spins. Any expanding symbol will turn into full reel wild. Landing a combination with expanding wilds and other characters will see their multiplier being added.
Scoring a win of minimum 1969x your bet will trigger the xCap: Downfall feature once the round has ended. You will be given the opportunity to multiply your win by x2, x3, x5, x7, or x10. The gamble carries no risk as you will always walk away at least with your initial win.
Dive straight into the rabbit hole with the Nolimit Bonus Buy feature with three different scenarios to pick from. Please note, that it might not be available in all jurisdictions. The cost is 75x bet for the Headshrinker Spins and 500x for the Insanity Spins. The third option is a lucky draw with odds at 80:20 for the two features, all at a cost of 183x your stake. As usual, we recommend to be cautious when using the options as the Free Spins are very volatile and low payouts from the features could quickly diminish your playing balance.
I had to play Rock Bottom for a significant time in demo mode to actually find out whether the volatility is indeed lower as announced. The base game can be scrappy at times without any difference to the max volatility slots from Nolimit City with the best chance for big wins being the xSplit modifier. Naturally, it will be often a miss when it lands but with matching characters on the same row and a split to the max number has the potential for even mega wins.
The Free Spins modes showed hardly any difference. Still very volatile albeit I achieved a slightly better average payout in relation to the cost of buying the features. Best is to accumulate high multipliers on the following characters before advancing to that next stage as that ensures bigger payouts.
