Holiday Spirits brings the three Christmas ghosts that help to turn Scrooge into a friendlier character to a 3×3 reel set with wild substitutions, random win multipliers and three types of win spins that can deliver up to 1,600 times your bet on a single spin.

Holiday Spirits is a 3×3 slot with five fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for three matching symbols or in combination with a wild on a line from left to right only. Charles Dickens wrote ‘A Christmas Carol’ in 1843, portraying an elderly miser called Ebenezer Scrooge who turns into a friendlier character after he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. Fittingly, one of the rooms of Scrooge’s mansion decorated with a Christmas tree serves as the background to the game window, which in itself is populated by festive items and the four ghosts.

The pay symbols start at the low end with a festive snow globe, red-white candy canes, Christmas stockings and a festive mistletoe, awarding 0.4x to 1x your stake for a single three of a kind. They are followed by spirits from the novella – Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Christmas Present, Ghost of Christmas and the redeemed ghost of Jacob Marley, highlighted by orange, green, purple and pink backgrounds respectively. Hit three on a line to win 1.4x to 4x your bet. Ebenezer Scrooge marked with the word itself is the wild, substituting for all regular pay symbols and yielding 16x your bet for three.

Final Verdict

Sadly, there is nothing surprising nor new on Holiday Spirits as the game is a 100% clone of Chronos Joker, a slot Play’n GO released in November 2019. The limited popularity for the rest of the year is probably the main reason developers do not spend a lot of effort to design completely new games for the festive season, yet it is still disappointing to see that they did give it at least some sort of new twist.
