Quickspin debuted with a bang in the popular niche in September 2021 when they released Big Bad Wolf Megaways, an upgrade to what is probably their most successful slot to date. With Eastern Emeralds Megaways, they are following the same strategy in the hope they can repeat the feat from last year. Reason enough to take a closer look.

The Megaways engine is somewhat subdued with just five reels and no cascading symbols. Nevertheless, two to seven symbols will drop onto each reel on every spin, creating a random number of betways between 32 and 16,807. Match three or more on adjacent reels and you have a winner.

Core to the gameplay are, however, still the Multiplier Wilds. They can land on reels two to five and will be marked with a multiplier equal to their reel, e.g. x3 on reel three. They will be most powerful when more than one lands in a spin as they will be multiplied by each other, providing the opportunity for up to x120 multipliers in the base game. However, only combos they are part of will benefit from it.

Hitting three, four or five scatters anywhere on the reels will trigger the Free Spins round. The game will first lead you to the Bonus Picker screen. Four options with a variety of spins and wild multipliers will be offered based on the number of scatters. You can pick any on each occasion.

Once you made your choice, you will proceed to the Gamble Wheel where you can improve your feature unless you hit five scatters on the initial spin. Final Verdict

We were really looking forward to Quickspin’s next Megaways release as they have done a stellar job with the Big Bad Wolf Megaways upgrade. Naturally, we expected some similar blockbuster material but after playing the game for a while in demo mode, we simply didn’t feel it. Eastern Emeralds Megaways has only the increased number of betways going for it, the rest is exactly the same as on the original. Nonetheless, a quite playable slot with ample win potential.
