Players are taken deep into a dark lava mine illuminated only by a range of gems in the cave walls. A completely frameless game window holds pay symbols in form of rough stone shapes. As to be expected, the pay symbols are all about gems and precious stones. At the low end are five smaller gems in different colours followed by four big gems in pink, red, green and yellow in ascending order. The latter is the most valuable, paying 6x your stake for a single six of a kind. The rainbow wild is marked with a ‘W’ and ist the top paying symbol with 50x your bet when six line up on a pay line. There are no scatters or bonus symbols on this slot. Instead, the game has a Lava Multiplier ladder on the right with win multipliers ranging from x2 to x15.

Mega Gem Symbols

All gem symbols can appear in various sizes on any spin to provide more winning potential. Possible sizes are 1×1, 2×2 and 3×3. The latter will cover roughly a third of the game window and will guarantee multi-line wins when it lands on the front reel. More than one Mega Gem symbol can land on a spin.

Magic Glow Respin

A sparkling gem landing in a winning combination will disperse to create wild symbols and award one re-spin. It will stay as a sticky wild for the duration of the respin sequence that can include multiple cascades. Any further sparkling gems appearing on a respin, will turn into a wild as well and award a further re-spin.

Lava Multiplier

The cascading pay mechanic will activate the Lava Multiplier after the first winning combo. The symbols in the combo are removed and new ones drop into place. This continues as long as new wins occur after a symbol drop. After each win in the same spin sequence, the Lava Multiplier is increased by x1, up to a maximum of x15. Once the maximum is reached, all wins in the same sequence will be multiplied by x15 until no new wins land after a cascade. The accumulated win for the spin is then paid and the multiplier resets to x1.

Final Verdict

Gemtastic game or just a sparkling show? Admittedly, the big win potential was the first thing that drew us to take a closer look at this creation from Red Tiger Gaming but we were not that enthusiastic after seeing that there are no bonus or free spins features. However, the game turned out to be entertaining with something happening on nearly every spin. It gets really interesting and suspenseful once the Lava Multiplier goes to higher numbers and a good amount of sticky wilds are on the reels. As with every other high volatility game, we do recommend some caution on the bet size as this type of slot is not for the fainthearted. It can be the reason for big win celebrations but also for quick losses.
