Jack In A Pot is a cascading video slot with a 7×7 grid with cascading symbols and cluster pays. A minimum of five adjacent matching symbols are needed for a win. After the win is paid, the symbols from the winning combo will vanish and new ones are cascading into place. This continues until no new wins are scored after a cascade.

Pay Symbols

The slot has nine regular pay symbols and four types of wild symbols as well as a free spins scatter. At the low end are the full card suit with diamonds, clubs, hearts and spades as well as a blue dot. Hitting a cluster with 40 or more will award wins ranging from 15 to 35 times the stake. The premium symbols are a green bowtie, a horseshoe, a boot filled with gold coins and a large golden coin with a four-leaved shamrock. Getting a 40+ cluster of these will pay 50 to 800 times the stake. The wild symbol appears in four variations and is marked either with a pipe, a beer glass, a hat or a rainbow. Each wild that is part of a winning cluster will activate the associated reel modifier. Scatters are a round golden tile with a green hard on the top and the words ‘free spins’ at the bottom.

The Wild Features

Each wild is marked with one of four item and landing one on the reels that is a part of a winning cluster will trigger one of four features. The wild is transferred to the golden cauldron where Jack is hiding. He will jump out once the current cascade sequence has ended and apply the awarded reel modifier.

Magic Pipe is triggered when the wild is marked by a pipe. Jack will blow the pipe to expand one or two of the premium symbols into mega blocs in the size of 2×2, 3×3 or even 4×4. Beer Reels are activated when the wild is marked with a beer glass. Taps appears on the top of the game grid and one to five will open to pour beer and transform all symbols on the reel underneath them into a common symbol.

Hat Trick is triggered by a wild marked with a hat. Jack will throw it in the air and the hat will suck all low-paying symbols from the reels, leaving more room for clusters with premium symbols. Rainbow Swaps will be activated by a wild marked with rainbow. A giant rainbow will land on the reels and transforms a random number of symbols into a common symbol.

Jack’s Free Spins Feature

An empty four-leaved shamrock is placed on the right of the game window. Every free spins scatter landing on a cascade is collected and placed on the shamrock. Accumulating four scatters in a single spin sequence will award 10 free spins. During the free spins each wild that is part of a winning cluster is collected on the left of the game window. Once all spins have been played, all collected wild features will be activated one after the other.

Our Verdict

Did we feel the luck of the Irish on Jack In A Pot? Mostly yes as the slot is entertaining and the base game features happen frequently enough. But the slot goes repeatedly 10 and more spins without as much as the smallest win. Plus, collecting four scatters seemed awfully difficult but once it happened, the following free spins round paid mostly well.
