At the start of every spin, 25 symbols cascade onto the game grid from the top. Wins are paid for combinations of three to five matching symbols vertically or horizontally. The winning combo will then explode to make space for new symbols to drop in place. The sequence continues until now new wins occur after a cascade.
Graphics and Visuals
An early chemistry laboratory from the middle ages, when scientists were still in the very beginnings of understanding chemical reactions, serves as the backdrop to the 5×5 game grid. The reels are held in a frame of pipes that will channel the bonus potion from the reels to the flask collectors on the right. A suspenseful yet quirky soundtrack is only interrupted by the usual reel noises.
Pay Symbols
As expected the pay symbol set is all about chemistry. At the low end, you will find flasks with blue, white, green, yellow and red potions. They are followed by an old chemistry scale, an amulet, a mortar grinder and what looks like an old chemical compacter. Hitting five of a kind will pay 2x to 15x your stake.
The top-paying symbols are a scientist and the wild symbol, awarding 50x your bet when five line up vertically or horizontally. The wild also substitutes for all symbols except scatters. Those are a flask with a pink potion, appearing on all reels.
The Magical Portals
The top left corner and bottom right corner are swirling portals. If the symbols landing in the two portals match, they and all appearances of that same symbol will turn into wilds before wins are evaluated. The mechanic will trigger also after a cascade within a spin sequence.
A wild symbol in a portal matches any regular symbol in the opposite portal, however, two wilds in portals will not trigger any transformation. The transformed wild symbols in the portals will not stick and explode before the next cascade, regardless of whether they are in winning combinations.
The Exploding Scatter Symbols
Scatter symbols are collected during an entire spin sequence of cascades. After being added to the collector on the right, the scatters explode in a cross pattern, removing the two adjacent symbols on each side vertically and horizontally after which new symbols will drop in place. Four or more collected scatters trigger the free spins.
The Wildchemy Free Spins Feature
The feature is triggered once you accumulated a minimum of four scatters in the flask collector. Any additional scatter in the same spin sequence will add +4 free spins. During the bonus round, an additional magic portal is placed in the top right corner. If two portal symbols match, they and all appearances of that symbol turn into wilds. All transformed or initially wild symbols in portals explode before cascading. For even more win potential, all wins in free spins are doubled. The feature cannot be retriggered as scatters will not appear in free spins.
