Admittedly, I had neither this slot nor Hurricane Games on my radar until today. I know they did some support work in the past but never really released own creations. Well, a quick Google search confirmed that they signed up as partner with Stakelogic, which gives them access to the coveted Megaways game engine. Reason enough to take a closer look as to what they have done with it.

The decision to make before you start spinning the reels is whether you want to activate SuperStakes. This will add 50% to your default bet size, e.g. minimum bet increases from 0.10 to 0.15. In return, there will be more bonus scatters on the reels, making it easier to trigger the main feature.

Core to the gameplay is the Megaways engine, which will spin two to eight symbols per reel into view, giving players anything from 8 to 512 ways to win. Pays are only awarded when you land three symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the left. More than one symbol on a reel will multiply the win. There are no symbol cascades as seen on other Megaways games.

Hitting a scatter anywhere on each reel will trigger 10 Free Spins which can be indefinitely retriggered by landing multiplier scatters on all three reels in one free spin. During the feature, the feature scatter is replaced with multiplier scatters, each carrying a win multiplier between x2 to x100. All in view are added for a total win multiplier, potentially leading to a maximum of x300. Worth noting is that the multiplier scatters do not count as wild or pay symbol.

Any win in the base game or from the free spins can be increased by using the Gamble feature. Select spades or hearts to double or suits to quadruple your win up to eight times or up to 500 times your bet.

Final Verdict

Candyways Bonanza Megaways is a very basic debut for Hurricane Games, playing it safe although it has a rather volatile math model and a very respectable win potential of up to 20,000 times your bet. Question is only whether players can warm up to a Megaways game engine that is basically cut in half.
