The Expendables New Mission Megaways
Get back into your army gear as you are about to embark on a New Mission with The Expendables on the Megaways slot from Stakelogic. The team of ageing mercenaries has been called back for another high-volatility reel ride with cascading symbols, multiplier wilds, random mystery symbols, golden skull symbols and a free spins round that can lead to wins in excess of 20,000 times your bet.
The Expendables New Mission Megaways is a cascading video slot with six reels and up to 7 rows, leading to 324 to 117,649 ways to win. You can accept the new mission on desktop, tablet or mobile devices from 0.20 to 40.00 credits per spin. Activating SuperStake will increase bet sizes to 0.40 to 80 (more to that in a short while). The RTP of this medium to high variance game is set as default at 96.08%. Some operators will offer the slot with the secondary RTP setting of 94.08%, always read the help file to find out which version you will be playing.
Using the trademarked Megaways game engine, the number of ways from 324 to the maximum is randomly determined for every spin sequence by selecting between two and seven pay symbols for reels 1 and 6 as well as two to six pay symbols for reels 2 to 5. Plus, the extra reel at the top of the game window with four positions, extending from reel two to five, will spin more symbols into view in every round, creating virtually unlimited variations of rows and symbols that will make every spin unique.
Wins are then paid for two to six symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. The symbols from a winning combination are part of a reaction which will see them explode to make room for new symbols to cascade into place. This will continue as long as a new winner occurs after a reaction allowing you to potentially win repeatedly in a single spin. Wins are accumulated from all cascades and paid before the next spin sequence starts.
The pay symbol set has not changed as such although the characters wear no civilian clothes instead of the military fatigues. At the low end, you will find card royals from 9 through to A, awarding 0.75x to 1.25x your stake for a single six of a kind. They are followed by five characters from the movie – Wesley Snipes as Doctor Death, Dolph Lundgren as Gunner, Jason Statham as Lee and Kellan Lutz as John Smilee. Hit six across the reels to win 2.5x to 62.5x your bet.
The game has two wild symbols, the standard being a dynamite bundle marked with the word itself while a red bag is the multiplier wild (more to that in a moment). There are also two mystery symbols. First, a hand grenade with a question mark that is part of the random feature. In turn, Golden Skull symbols can only appear on the reels when the SuperStakes are activated. A golden dog tag with a skull acts as the scatter symbol.
The Expendables New Mission Megaways Slot Features
The first Megaways slot featuring The Expendables was received well in the casino community, although maybe not with the enthusiasm StakeLogic probably hoped. The second Megaways creation featuring the popular movie franchise has been inspired by The Expendables III, so together with some new features, we are also getting to spin some new characters.
The decision to make before you start spinning the reels is whether you want to activate SuperStakes. This will double you default bet size, e.g. minimum bet increases from 0.20 to 0.40, and will trigger one extra feature with an average frequency of 1:38 spins. Once it does, up to 222 Gold Skull symbols will be added to the reel strips and any landing during a spin will reveal a common pay symbol, however, no wilds or scatters.
A blazing SuperStakes logo in the bottom right corner indicates that the feature is active. You can switch it on or off before any spin in the base game. As with all such extras, we do recommend some caution in using them.
Watch out for Sylvester Stallone appearing from the right as he will throw a random number of hand grenades onto the grid. They are special mystery symbols and will reveal one of four modifiers once they settle on a reel position :
- Free Spins Scatters: Will trigger the free spins if minimum four scatters are in view
- Extra Wilds symbols: All grenades transform into standard wilds
- Matching Symbols: Similar to the standard mystery symbol, all grenades will reveal a common pay symbol
- Multiplier Wilds: Only one grenade is thrown onto a random reel position which will then transform into a wild with a multiplier from x2 to x10. Only wins containing the wild will be multiplied. (We tested the game for hours and never saw two multiplier wilds but should you be the lucky one, then it might be good to know that they are multiplied by each other).
Having four dog tag scatters in view at the end of a spin sequence will trigger 12 Free Spins with an x1 starting win multiplier., Any additional scatter will add +5 free spins to the tally. Landing three or four scatters during a free spin will retrigger +5 and+10 free spins respectively, no limits. The progressive win multiplier will increase randomly by x1 to x5 after every free spin, again, no limits. Grenade mystery symbols can also trigger during the bonus round.
Last but not least is the well-known Gamble option that is available on all StakeLogic slots. You can gamble any win in the base game or from the free spins to either guess the colour for doubling the win or the suit of playing cards to quadruple it. A small bar at the bottom displays the history of your last gambles, which some players might see as a guide. We recommend some caution on using the option as losing the gamble repeatedly will have quite an impact on your playing balance.
Well, it looks like the ageing elite soldiers still can’t fully retire as StakeLogic decided to feature them in a second slot inspired by the immensely successful movie franchise. The Expendables New Mission Megaways is well-differentiated from the first creation with new features and twists that should please every Megaways fan. The maximum win potential of around 20,000x is currently an estimate only as we await confirmation from the developer.
