The wacky fisherman is back for another reel adventure on the slot from Storm Gaming Technology. Captain Cashfall Megaways is building on the original Captain Cashfall slot that was released in 2017 but has now received the Megaways treatment, courtesy of the trademarked game engine used under licence from Big Tim Gaming. Random reel modifiers, collectable bonus games and a free spins round with unlimited win multipliers and treasure chest prizes will make up the entertainment on the reels and can lead to wins of up to 10,000 times your bet or 250,000 credits, whichever is reached first.

Slot Details

Captain Cashfall Megaways is a cascading video slot with six reels, up to seven rows and up to 117,649 ways to win using the trademarked Megaways engine. You can join the wacky fisherman on desktop or mobile from 0.20 credits to 100 credits per spin. The RTP of this medium to high variance game is set at 96.01%.

The number of ways from 324 to the maximum is randomly determined for every spin with the game engine selecting between two and seven pay symbols for reels 1 and 6 as well as two to six pay symbols for reels 2 to 5. Additionally, the game has an extra horizontal reel at the top of the game window with four positions, extending from reel 2 to 5, where more symbols appear on every spin.

Wins are paid for two to six adjacent symbols from left to right only. The symbols from a winning combination will start a chain reaction and disappear to make room for new symbols to drop into place. The spin sequence continues as long as a new winning combination occurs after a reaction.

The visuals have not changed all too much from the original slot. The planks of a sailing ship serve as the main background with stacks of gold coins spread around the standard Megaways reel set, which opens up a view of an underwater scene. Three trails for the bonus features are placed to the right of the game window while a quirky soundtrack keeps things lively at all times.

The pay symbols start at the low end with the card royals from 10 through to A, awarding 0.8x to 2x your bet for a single five of a kind. They are followed by three premiums – a ship wheel, a blue fish and a Capt’n Tuna with a payout of 4x your stake when six land across the reels. The premiums can appear with a golden frame where they will have a dual function as pay symbol and also as scatters to light up the corresponding trail (more to that shortly) Captain Cashfall himself is the top symbol with 40x your bet for a 6OAK.

Mrs Cashfall is the wild symbol, appearing in the horizontal reel only and performing the usual substitution duties. The captain’s dog marked with ‘Free Spins’ is the scatter, appearing on the main grid only while a ship’s anchor acts as the mystery symbol. During the free spins, a crab will replace the usual scatter, however, it will appear in the horizontal reel only.

Captain Cashfall Megaways Slot Features

Just like the original Captain Cashfall slot which Storm Gaming developed for partner studio Core Gaming, its Megaways siblings is packed to the brim with random modifiers, collectable bonus games and a free spins feature with unlimited multipliers and a treasure chest bonus. Plenty to get through, so bear with us as we go through the long list in the best possible chronological order.

We’ll start in the base game, where a Mine Sweeper can appear randomly at any time during a spin sequence. All royals in view will be removed for the duration of the spin and the empty spaces filled up with new premiums, providing extra potential to score big multi-way wins. Cascades continue as normal as long as a winning combo lands after a tumble.

Available in both the base game and free spins is the Mystery Symbol which can appear randomly at the end of any spin. Once a random number has been placed on to the reels, they will reveal a common pay symbol, except wilds or scatters.

By now, you will have seen the three trails to the right of the game window, although fans of the original Captain Cashfall slot will know what they are about. The three premiums – ship wheel, tuna can and fish – can appear marked with a golden frame at any time in the base game. When they do, they will be added to the respective trail, triggering their associated features when the meter is filled up. The collection is not bet sensitive as an average bet is calculated for the entire collection period, which will then be applied to the winnings.

  • Fish Trail – Reel’em In: Three ship wheels appear with green, blue and red fish. You’ll get 10 spins with payouts amounting to 1x average bet for a combination of any, 5x for three green fish, 10x for three blue fish and 25x for three red fish. The maximum you can win is 250x your average stake.
  • Capt’n Tuna Can Trail – Cans of Cash: A conveyor belt with can appears, which will start moving once you press start. A series of trap doors are placed along the belt and any can falling through them will award a bet multiplier of 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x or 30x your average bet used to fill the trail. The game ends when the conveyr belt breaks down.
  • Ship Wheel Trail – Wheel House Fortune: The captain will appear alongside giant prize wheel with bet multiplier ranging from 2x to 50x. Spin the wheel and every time it comes to a stop on a multiplier, it will be added to the overall round multiplier. Randomly, the lowest value sections will be replaced with STOP sections. Landing on one will end the bonus game and the accumulated multiplier awarded. The average bet used for the collection will then be multiplied and paid.

Hitting four scatters anywhere on the reels within a single spin sequence will trigger 10 Free Spins with each additional scatter in view awarding +5 extra free spins. The feature starts with an x1 win multiplier, which will increase by x1 after each winning reaction, no limits. Crab scatters replace the standard scatters and appear in the top reel only with three or four retriggering 5 and 10 free spins respectively. Treasure chests are added to the main reels during the round. When three land on a spin, they will move to the front to allow you one pick for an extra cash prize, which will be added to the total feature winnings.

Final Verdict

As expected, Captain Cashfall Megaways is building on the legacy of the hilarious original that was released a few years earlier. Packed to the brim with modifiers and features, it will provide entertaining gaming sessions with high win potential. While that is limited to 250,000 credits, we estimate it to peak around the 10,000x bet mark.

As of March 2020, Captain Cashfall Megaways is exclusively available at William Hill and a few other UK bookmakers and casino such as bwin or Party Casino. However, we expect it to go global in the near future. Try it now at Party Casino:
