Beware! The mighty mammals are about to stampede across the slot from Williams Interactive (WMS), powered by Scientific Games subsidiary SG Digital. Raging Rhino Rampage is the next addition to the immensely popular franchise, taking you back to the vast savannah on a dynamic reel set that can grow to a staggering height for wins of up to 12,500 times your bet or 250,000 credits whichever is reached first. Lucky reel explorers will be rewarded with wild substitutions, random grid expansions and extra rhino symbols as well as a Bonus Wheel where they can win one of three fixed jackpots and up to 50 free spins.

Slot Details

Raging Rhino Rampage is a video slot with six reels, rows and 4,096 ways to win as default. During the gameplay, each individual reel can rise up to eight symbols high, leading to a maximum of 262,144 ways with a fully expanding game grid (more to that shortly). Wins are awarded for two to six symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. You can follow the mighty rhinos on their stampede across the reels on desktop and mobile from 0.40 to 20 credits per spin. The game has medium volatility with an RTP of 96.204%. Using the Buy Pass feature will increase the RTP to 96.704% and a hit rate of roughly 1:3.3 spins.

The full beauty of the vast savannah is opening up when you load the game to deliver a picture postcard-perfect background to the reels that are populated with a range of wild animals you might get to encounter on a safari. The mighty rhino stands on the side of the reels, ready to stampede with a loud roar on a big win.

WMS decided to keep most of the visual appearance of the original which extends as far as the pay symbols. They start at the low end with card royals from 9 through to A, paying 2.5x to 3.125x your bet for a single six of a kind. The high-value symbols have received a slight makeover but remained otherwise unchanged. In ascending order, they are honey badgers, crocodiles, cheetahs, gorillas and the mighty rhino. Hit six across the reels to win 3.75x to 7.5x your bet. The wild symbol is a sunset-soaked tree, appearing on reels two to five only and substituting for all regular pay symbols. The well-known shiny diamond acts as the scatter.

Raging Rhino Rampage Slot Features

The Raging Rhino franchise has been one of the big successes to emanate from the studios of Williams Interactive. First appearing on casino floors, it turned up in 2015 in online casino lobbies, continuing on the legacy of the landbased original. After throwing a Raging Rhino Megaways version into the mix, WMS has adopted yet again a different reel mechanic that can deliver up to 262,144 ways to win on this creation. Let’s take a closer look at how that works out.

Raging Rhino Rampage Rising Reels

The default in the base game and free spins is a 6×4 format with 4,096 ways. The Expanding Reels feature can trigger on any spin, randomly increasing two or more reels to five or six symbols high, giving you anything from 6,400 to 46,656 ways for the current spin, providing extra potential to score a win. Any expansion will reset to the default before the next spin.

Just as randomly triggered are the Stampeding Reels, adding more rhino symbols to two or more reels for the current spin, giving you more chances to hit multi-way wins with the top-paying symbol.

Raging Rhino Rampage Bonus Wheel

Hitting three, four, five or six diamond scatters anywhere on the reels will trigger 5, 8, 15 and 20 Free Spins respectively, plus giving you access to the mighty Bonus Wheel where you can win more free spins and three fixed jackpots. The wheel has 12 segments:

  • Free Spins: Two segments each for 2, 3 and 5 free spins, one segment with 50 free spins
  • Fixed Jackpots: One segment each for Mini Jackpot at 25x, Minor Jackpot at 250x and Major Jackpot at 2,500x your bet
  • Mystery Prize: Two segments, each awarding one of the prizes available on the wheel

You can now spin the reel repeatedly and win every prize you land on. Once a prize is awarded, the segment is replaced with a START wedge. Landing on such a wedge will end the Bonus Wheel feature. All won free spins are added to the starting number from the triggering spin while jackpot wins go on top of the win from the entire feature. The Bonus Wheel cannot be retriggered.

Raging Rhino Rampage Free Spins

The game will lead back to the main screen once the wheel feature has concluded and start the free spins. Any wilds landing on a spin will reveal an x2 or 3 win multiplier with more than one being multiplied by each other for a maximum multiplier of x81. Worth noting is that only wins containing a wild will benefit from the multiplier. Plus, the random Expanding Reels and Stampeding Reels can trigger on any free spin. Hitting two to six scatters will award an additional 5 to 50 free spins, no limits.

New on this addition to the Raging Rhino franchise is the Buy Pass feature, which is restricted in some jurisdictions. It will cost you a one-time amount of 75x your total bet to instantly activate the Bonus Wheel with initially 5 free spins. Alternatively, you can bet a lower amount and take a spin on a pie gamble wheel with red and green zones, which change in size proportionally to the amount you are willing to bet. Landing in the green zone will get you through to the Bonus Wheel with again 5 free spins as starting point. The main difference to an organic trigger is that the Expanding Reels can now rise up to 8 symbols high, giving you a maximum of 262,144 ways to win. The RTP using the Buy Pass feature is 0.50% higher than the default value.

Final Verdict

WMS is demonstrating how a successful original can be turned into an equally popular franchise with a run that spans now well over a decade. Raging Rhino Rampage is quite similar to its older sibling but has sufficient differences to make it stand out. Disappointing is the fact that the maximum grid size is only available through the Buy Pass feature, meaning that players in the UK and other countries where bonus buys are restricted will never get the benefit of a fully expanded game window.
