Slot Details

Martian Miner Infinity Reels is a video slot in an inverted 3×4 format with horizontally spinning symbols, featuring the licenced game engine from ReelPlay that keeps adding more reels to the game window as long as more winning symbols land on the bottom row (more to that shortly).

Wins are awarded for minimum five matching symbols landing on adjacent rows starting from the top. Pays are calculated by multiplying the number of matching symbols with the attributed value for the symbol. For example, having five As will pay 5 count x 0.20 symbol value = 1x the bet.

You can voyage to the red planet on desktop, tablet or mobile from 0.20 to 25 credits per spin. The game has high volatility with an RTP of 96.06%. Using the Bonus Buy option will change the value to 96.12%, 96.07% or 96.18% for Level 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

The barren surroundings an astronaut crew would encounter on Mars serve as the backdrop to the drill shaft-inspired game window. In fact, they landed already as a colony can be seen in the distant background. The Martian Miner is leading the pack on a quest to find valuable minerals and gems, operating the massive drill that will take you deeper into the ground.

The pay symbols start at the low end with card royals from 10 through to A. The value per symbol ranges from 0.10x to 0.20x your bet with a minimum of five needed for a win. They are followed by various mineral rock chunks and gem shards – Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond and Marsonite. The value per symbol increases to 0.35x to 3x your stake.

Gem premiums do not appear during the standard base game but will progressively replace the rock chunks during the free spins and the Teleport Reels modifier when you decent to a certain depth within a game round or bonus feature.

The Martian Miner is the wild symbol, substituting for all regular pay symbols. While the game has no scatter as such to trigger the main event, it has some special symbols during the free spins, which we will explain shortly.

Martian Miner Infinity Reels Slot Features

BB Games is the next developer to sign a licence for the increasingly popular Infinity Reels game engine from Australia-based ReelPlay. And there are some surprises waiting on this volatile voyage to the red planet as we are about to discover. Notably, Martian Miner Infinity Reels is built in permanent portrait mode with a few surprising twists that emphasize the focus on mobile gaming.

A good point to start this review would be to explain the Infinity Reels mechanic. Every spin sequence starts in an inverted 3×4 format with the reels spinning symbols laterally into view from right to left. To score a winner, you will need minimum five matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the top. Having winning symbol/s on the top 3 reels only will end the game round and a win is awarded according to the paytable.

However, landing at least one winning symbol on each of the 4 default reels will trigger the Infinity Reels mechanic. The first four reels are held and the massive drill will start to operate, digging further into the ground and adding another reel at the bottom. The process is repeated as long as more winning symbols appear. A maximum of 76 reels can be added in a single game round. Keep an eye on the counter to the right as it will indicate the winning symbols and the total number in the winning combination.

A second display will show the remaining number of reels needed to trigger a modifier and the free spins. Adding five reels within the same spin sequence in the base game will add more Wild Astronaut symbols to provide more chances to keep the drill going.

The Teleport Reel modifier can trigger randomly at any time in the base game, taking you deeper into the ground, simulating a free spin where the gem premiums will replace the lower-value mineral rocks. However, you cannot win the Free Spins feature when the modifier is active.

The possible levels are Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond and Marsonite (see below for descriptions). The round will then be played starting from the random level reached during the dig with the respective lower-value premiums replaced by corresponding gems. That is unless you descend to the ultimate Marsonite level where all lower-value rock premiums will be replaced by the top-paying Marsonite symbols.

Martian Miner Infinity Reels Free Spins

Adding 10 or more Infinity Reels within a game round will trigger the Free Spins feature with minimum 5 spins. The exact number is based on how much fuel you collect in the base game up to the trigger. Watch out for the blue fuel cells landing as they will be adding +1 free spin to display at the bottom of the reels, up to a maximum of 20 Free Spins.

The feature will start in a similar fashion as the base game but will have a new display to the right, indicating the depth the drill has progressed so far. The aim is to go as far down as possible to activate the various gem levels. The number is accumulative over all free spins and will not reset throughout the entire feature.

After every 10 added Infinity Reels wins, you will activate the next gem level until you hit the ultimate Marsonite level. Once on a new level, any subsequent free spins will be played on the activated level with the boosted premiums until you reach the next one.

  • Emerald Depth – accumulate 10 Infinity Reels: Iron symbols are replaced by more valuable Emeralds. All other symbols remain the same.
  • Ruby Depth – accumulate 20 Infinity Reels: In addition to Emeralds, Rubies will replace Bronze symbols. All others remain the same.
  • Sapphire Depth – accumulate 30 Infinity Reels: In addition to Emeralds and Rubies, Sapphires will replace Gold symbols. All others remain the same.
  • Diamond Depth – accumulate 40 Infinity Reels: In addition to Emeralds, Rubies and Sapphires, Diamonds will replace Platinum symbols. All others remain the same.
  • Marsonite Depth – accumulate 50 Infinity Reels: Gems are removed again and all rock symbols – Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum – are replaced by the top-paying Marsonites. Royals remain as normal on the reels.

And there is more as the game has three special symbols that will further boost your Free Spins feature. Landing a treasure chest will award an instant random cash prize, a fossil symbol will add extra free spins and an Ankh cross will increment the win multiplier by x1 on each occurrence.

Anyone, wanting to be on an express rocket to the red planet and instantly start the digging for minerals and gems, can use the Buy Bonus button. That is though if you live in a jurisdiction that has not restricted feature buys. It will cost you a one-time amount of 50x, 75x or 100x to purchase a feature with 12, 16 and 20 Free Spins respectively.

Final Verdict

While rather new to the iGaming industry, BB Games demonstrates with Martian Miner Infinity Reels that they have the creativity and experience to built a highly playable slot with ample twists and features. The permanent portrait mode works remarkably well on this occasion as they not only inverted the game window but also use the drill as an animation effect to add Infinity Reels on winning spin.

Rather fun and entertaining to watch as the drill digs further down. We certainly found our testing sessions very enjoyable and also scored some sizeable wins. The overall win potential has yet to be confirmed but should be worth the exploration trip to Mars. We will update the review once we receive the details.
