Slot Details

Clash of the Seraphim is a cascading grid slot in a 7×7 format with cluster pays. Wins are awarded for five or more matching symbols landing in a cluster anywhere on the reels. You witness the biblical battle on desktop, tablet or mobile from 0.10 to 100 credits per spin (up to 200 possible). The game has medium volatility with a default RTP of 95.51%. Lower models at 94%, 92% or 90% are offered.

A heavenly scene divided into good and evil sides opens up when you load the game. The former with an angel-like winged Seraphim against sun-filled blue skies and the latter as expected in a dark tone with a menacing creature and lightning strikes. An intense soundtrack keeps you in suspense for the upcoming reel battle between the two sides.

The pay symbols start at the low end with green and red diamonds as well as the respective staff, green for the Light Seraphim and red for the dark Seraphim, awarding 30x to 150x your bet for clusters of 40 or more matching symbols. They are followed by the Light Seraphim and the Dark Seraphim themselves. Hit 40+ clusters to win 500x to 1000x your stake. A winged W is the wild, substituting for all regular pay symbols. Lastly, a winged eyeball acts as the scatter, appearing on reel four only.

Clash of the Seraphim Slot Features

Blue Guru Games is powering ahead with their challenge to release multiple slots in their debut year. Throughout they are following their strategy to focus on medium or medium-to-high volatility with decent win potential. After taking us on a journey through Asian mythology on Treasure of Tengshe, they are sending us to a different celestial region on Clash of the Seraphim. Reason enough to take a closer look.

Clash of Seraphim
Dark Wild Expansion with x2 Multiplier

Core to the gameplay is the cluster pay mechanic with cascading symbols. Every spin sequence starts by dropping 49 icons onto the 7×7 grid and landing five or more connected in a cluster is a winner. All in the combo will be removed before the reminder and new symbols will cascade down to fill the empty spaces.

Two larger marked areas are visible on the screen at all times. One for the Dark side and one for the Light side. They move to random positions on every spin and can change in size from 2×2 to 3×7 in the base game. There are no restrictions on the maximum dimensions in the Free Games. Landing a wild in any or both of the areas will turn all symbols within the markers into wilds. Should more than one hit in the same area, then a multiplier equal to the number of wilds is awarded. They are not sticky though and will disappear with the following cascade.

There is one more marked area at the bottom of reel four which is fixed and will not move throughout the gameplay. The aim is to drop the eyeball scatter instantly or via multiple cascades into the position by the end of a spin sequence to then trigger the Free Games feature. The area will not be active during the bonus round. The game will offer you two options:

  • 8 Dark Free Games: Maximum volatility with overall a larger marked area.
  • 15 Light Free Games: Medium volatility with a smaller marked area on average.

The main difference between the features seemed to be the frequency of wilds appearing at all on the reels. Once picked, the two marked areas from the base game are combined into one with no restrictions on the maximum size. This could lead to a full screen of wilds, paying a minimum of 1,000x in the Dark Free Games and at least 500x bet in the Light Free Games. This can further increase if multiple wilds land within the marked area to activate multipliers. Simulations over billions of spins achieved a maximum of 3,968x bet.

You can bypass the base game if you reside in an unrestricted jurisdiction and head straight into the battle of the Seraphim. The Bonus Buy cost is 75x your base bet and once confirmed, the game will start a spin sequence that is guaranteed to carry on until the eyeball scatter drops into the triggering position at the bottom. You can then again make your pick for the Dark or Light Free Games.

Final Verdict

I am most probably part of the majority who never heard of a Seraphim or what they really stand for. While millennials and Gen-Z might have come across the name in video games, I have not encountered them to date on a slot. As such the brief investigation allowed me to learn something new for the day, which is always good.

Back to the Clash of the Seraphim, the visuals are a feast for the eyes while the gameplay is rather engaging thanks to the two marked areas. Land one or more wilds inside one with a good size and it will deliver big and mega wins. Blue Guru Games focusing more on medium volatility also makes it more enjoyable and less ruthless on the balance.
