Slot Details

Dwarven Gems Megaways is a cascading video slot with six dynamic reels featuring 2 to 8 rows and 324 to 200,704 ways to win. Pays are awarded for two to six matching symbols landing on adjacent reels from left to right only. You can join the wacky miners on desktop, tablet or mobile from 0.10 to 20 credits per spin. The game has very high volatility with an RTP of 96.70%.

Core to the gameplay is the Megaways engine under licence from Big Time Gaming. The dynamic reel concept ensures that no two spins are the same as the number of ways to win is randomly determined at the start of every spin. The game will select between two and seven pay symbols for each reel as well as bring four more symbols into view from the right in the horizontal tracker on top of the reels.

Together, it will create a random number between 324 and 200,704 win ways. Any win will set off a chain reaction, which will see the winning symbols explode and new ones cascading into place, potentially leading to multiple winners in a game round. The process continues as long as a new win occurs after a cascade. All wins are accumulated and paid once a spin sequence ends.

Set deep inside a mine, the pay symbols include card royals from 10 through to A, awarding 0.4x to 0.6x your stake for a single six of a kind. They are followed by miner lamps, hammers as well as the four dwarves – Sparky, Ash Andersson, Jack Hammer and Old Man Bone. Hit six across the reels to win 1.2x to 5x your bet.

The game has four special symbols. The standard wild appears on reels two to six and substitutes for all regular pay symbols while a dynamite bundle can turn up in the top tracker only and will turn into a sticky wild (more to that shortly). A mining cart with green gems is the scatter on reels two to five while a blue gemstone acts as the Power Gem in the free spins.

Dwarven Gems Megaways Slot Features

From lofty space heights on Astro Newts Megaways to the live concert stage on Rock the Reels Megaways and now deep into the ground with a wacky gang of rabid dwarves. Iron Dog Studio has been covering quite some distance on their latest releases and made sure the journey kept us on the edge at all times. Each has its own modifiers and features that are in part completely new on Megaways games. Reason enough to take a closer look at what equipment they gave the miners on Dwarven Gems Megaways.

Dwarven Gems Megaways Dwarven Bomb

First to encounter on your descend into the mines is the Dwarven Bomb. The dynamite bundle can appear at any time in the horizontal tracker and will act as a sticky wild. Once no more wins occur, it will explode itself and one random symbol from each vertical reel plus two more random symbols, which brings the total to nine. Wilds and scatters will not be removed while new symbols tumble into the empty spaces and the spin sequence continues as normal. Only one Dwarven Bomb can be in view at the same time, but it can appear on the initial spin, after any tumble and in the free spins.

Dwarven Gems Megaways Free Spins Selector

Watch out for the gem loaded mining carts as they will be transporting you to the main event when four land on reels two to five within a single spin sequence. A portal appears with six coloured gems on the outer ring, spinning through them before stopping to reveal your number of Free Spins – 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 – which cannot be retriggered as such, but you can win more spins during the feature.

In addition to the Dwarven Bomb modifier, the bonus round has three items that will be at the core of finding those precious gems and wins of up to 20,000 times your bet. The well-known progressive win multiplier on Megaways games starts as usual at x1 and increments by x1 after every winning tumble, no limits.

New are the blue Power Gems that can appear on the horizontal tracker. Land one and it will turn 2-4 symbols on reels two, three and/or four into wilds while hitting two at the same time might add wilds to reels five too. They are not sticky and will explode with the ensuing winning tumble. Each Power Gem will also award + 2 Free Spins, again, no limits. Landing a Dwarven Bomb and a Power Gem at the same time will see the Power Gem apply its modifier first.

Last but not least, is the Lucky Last Spin that has the potential to twist the result from the initial feature. Score a win on the last free spin and you will get another one added. Keep hitting wins and the Lucky Last Spins carries on with, you guessed right, no limit unless you hit the max win cap. A Power Gem can appear during a Lucky Last Spin and will add as usual +2 spins. Hitting then a win again on the final spin will retrigger the Lucky Last Spin feature.

Dwarven Gems Megaways Bonus Buy

Iron Dog Studios created one of the most expansive Bonus Buy features for those players not residing in a restricted jurisdiction. Hit the golden star coin in the top right corner (desktop) and two menus will open up to offer you a selection of Bonus Buy options, all with an RTP of 96.50%. The maximum win potential is boosted to 30,000x bet.

  • Random Free Spins – 200x bet: Purchasing this option will get you a random number of 6 – 11 Free Spins with all modifiers and progressive multipliers included.
  • 7, 9 or 11 Free Spins – 45x, 150x and 300x bet: You can opt to buy a fixed amound of free spins at an increasing price. Modifiers and progressive multipliers are identical to the standard feature.
  • 15 Free Spins with High Bonus Upgrader – 400x bet: Gets you 15 free spins with a boosted frequency for Dwarven Bombs and Power Gems to appear.
  • 20 Free Spins with Super Bonus Upgrader – 500x bet: Gets you 20 free spins with a super boosted frequency for Dwarven Bombs and Power Gems to appear.

Final Verdict

Admittedly, we have seen lately a fair share of near or full clones of Megaways games appear in online casino lobbies, indicating that the highly popular niche might reach saturation. And then, there is Iron Dog Studio. The creative team has built some of the most entertaining Megaways slots and it very much looks like they are not finished yet by quite a margin. All of their latest releases have some kind of new and surprising modifiers and features that make each of them a unique experience.

Personally, I think that on Dwarven Gems Megaways they got it just right. The usually hot-tempered gnomes are allowed to create the highly volatile reel mayhem that is to be expected while the Dwarven Bombs, the Lucky Last Spin and the Power Gems add each a surprise element to the gameplay. Not to forget, that expansive Bonus Buy menu with countless options for those able and willing to bypass the base game.
