Greek Gods

Ascend to Olympus for an encounter with otherworldly deities on the slot from Pragmatic Play. Greek Gods will see you face the mighty sky and thunder god Zeus and his wife Hera, goddess of women, marriage, family, and childbirth on a high volatility reel realm with random prizes, stacked scatters, a Wheel of Fortune bonus game and a free spins round that can lead to wins of up to 2,000 times your bet.

Slot Details

Greek Gods is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 243 ways to win. Pays are awarded for three to five matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. Delve into the heavenly realm on desktop or mobile from 0.25 to 125 credits per spin. The game has medium to high volatility (4/5) with an RTP of 96.50%.

Loading the game for the first time will bring up the tried and tested graphics that come with a Greek theme. A sun-blazed heavenly realm is in the background of a Parthenon that acts as the reel frame. Not bad but neither in any way surprising or awe-inspiring. The scenery changes to a blue sky background in the free spins, which does not add much to the visual experience. What saves the day are the pretty impressive animations.

Nothing new on the pay symbols either. Forever used card royals from 10 through to A are at the low end of the paytable, awarding for all symbols a flat 2x your bet for a single five of a kind. The premiums consist of goblets and harps as well as Hera and Zeus. Hit five across the reels to win 3x to 6x your stake.

A golden icon marked with the word itself is the wild symbol, appearing on all reels and substituting for any regular pay symbol, while a lightning bolt acts as the scatter.

Greek Gods Slot Features

Slots involving Zeus are usually intense affairs with sky-high volatility that convey the might of the powerful Greek god who can summon thunderbolts at will and strike anywhere and anytime he likes. This creation from Pragmatic Play is rather subdued in both, gameplay and win potential.

Central to the action on the reels are the thunderbolt scatters which act in a dual function. The first part is connected to the horizontal reel on top of the game window. On every spin, it will roll into view random prizes above reels three to five in the base game and above all reels during the free spins. Landing a full stack of scatters under an active prize will see you win one of three rewards:

  • Cash prize: Awards a coin win of up to 50x your total bet (as seen in the screenshot)
  • Bonus: Triggers the Wheel of Fortune Bonus game
  • Free Spins: Triggers the free spins feature.

Triggering the Wheel of Fortune will get you one spin on the said wheel with 12 prize segments ranging from 10x to 1,000x your total bet. You can trigger multiple wheels in one spin if you have more than one stack of scatters in view on reels with the ‘Bonus’ icon at the top.

The Free Spins feature is awarded by either landing minimum five scatters on the reels or via the horizontal reel rewards. Triggering the feature organically will get you a default number of 3 free spins plus one for each scatter in view. For example, having six scatters on the back three reels will yield a total of 9 free spins for your round. In turn, every random award won from the horizontal reel is worth eight free spins in the base game and five free spins for a retrigger.

The maximum you can start the bonus round with are 36 free spins (3 default free spins + 9 for scatters stacked on all three back reels + 24 from the horizontal reel rewards) while retriggers peak at 40 free spins (15 from a full screen of stacked scatters and 25 from the horizontal reel rewards).

This would be the point where we describe the extras that will turn the free spins round into a suspenseful rollercoaster ride. Unfortunately, there is nothing to report for Greek Gods except that the horizontal reel has now active rewards on all five reels instead of just the back three. They contain though the same prizes as in the base game.

Final Verdict

Well, if there ever was a Greek-themed slot that looked too generic, Greek Gods would be a perfect example. The line pays are all but negligible unless you hit them on a good number of win ways and the free spins round has nothing special to offer. The Wheel of Fortune is what comes to the rescue as the top prize of 1,000x bet looks like an acceptable reward.
