Slot Details

Monsters of Rock Megaways is a video slot with six reels, up to seven rows and up to 117,649 ways to win using the trademarked Megaways engine. Your heavy metal reel journey on desktop or mobile starts at 0.20 credits and goes up to 100 credits per spin. The RTP of this medium to high variance game is set at 96.29%.

The number of ways from 324 to the maximum is randomly determined for every spin with the game engine selecting between two and seven pay symbols for reels one and six as well as two to six pay symbols for reels two to five. Additionally, the game has an extra horizontal reel at the top of the game window with four positions, extending from reel two to five, where more symbols appear on every spin.

Wins are paid for two to six adjacent symbols from left to right only. The symbols from a winning combination will start a chain reaction and disappear to make room for new symbols to drop into place. The spin sequence continues as long as a new winning combination occurs after a reaction.

Storm Gaming went to great length to design authentic graphics and visuals. Yet again though, the overall look is pointing to the Blueprint heritage as the Storm co-founder is no one else but an ex-Blueprint executive. Set on a live concert stage with glaring spotlights and two blaring speaker towers, the giant window is dominated by cartoon-style members of a rock band. The low-value royals are held on a crate-like tile similar to a speaker front. The soundtrack is supplied by a homegrown UK Midlands rock band.

Open the game to find the card royals from 10 through to A at the low end of the paytable, awarding 0.9x to 1.75x your bet for a single six of a kind. They are complemented by four band members and the Monsters of Rock slot logo. Hit six across the reels to win 2x to 50x your stake.

A fir-coloured icon marked with the word itself is the wild symbol, appearing in the horizontal reel only and substituting for all regular pay symbols. A blazing guitar acts as the scatter while an icon with a Monsters of Rock vinyl disc is the bonus symbol and stacked amplifier-speakers are the mystery card symbol.

Monsters of Rock Slot Features

The stage is set, the crowds have arrived – time to start the reel show. The most common feature you will encounter in the base game and free spins is the Mystery Card feature. Any landing in view will reveal a common pay symbol once the dust of the symbol cascade has settled.

Available in the base game only is the High Voltage feature. It can trigger randomly on any losing spin or cascade and will remove low-value royals from the reels to drop new symbols into place, potentially leading to a winning combination.

Expect a nice balance booster from the Pick-Me feature which is triggered when you land three vinyl records on the reels. You can make one pick to reveal a coin win.

No time for lazy moments in this reel show as we are approaching the main act, the Free Spins feature. Hitting four, five or six scatters within one spin sequence will award 12, 17 and 22 free spins respectively. During the round, three or four Re-Trigger Meter scatter appearing in the horizontal reel will add +5 and +10 free spins, no limits. The free spins are played with the usual Megaways progressive multiplier which starts at x1 and increases by x1 after every winning reaction, again no limits as to how high it can go. Lastly, the Mystery Card feature can come into play throughout the bonus round.

Final Verdict

Judging by the speed Storm Gaming has been releasing Megaways slots one could not be mistaken to think that they are planning to take the online gaming world by storm (pun intended). Little known to the online community until now, the UK-based studio is a major cabinet operator in land-based casinos, betting shops and pubs. Their first serious foray into online casinos came at the start of July 2019 when they released Magic Merlin Megaways exclusively at LadbrokesCoral brands. That was quickly followed by Bar-X Megaways at the start of September and Monsters of Rock Megaways in October.

While the first two were rather safe designs with solid Megaways play, they took a slightly higher risk with this creation by including the High Voltage and Pick-Me feature. The win potential should be in the usual Megaways range of 10,000x bet, however, they limited any win to 250,000 credits, which converts at maximum bet to just 2,500 times the stake. Still, overall a well-designed game but only time will tell whether they will be taking the stage by storm.
